When I put this team together it looked good on paper. The pitchers aren't bad and the offense looked good. A few of my guys aren't hitting like they should and my pitchers are just giving up too many runs. The more I learn about this game and use the tools (Diamond dope) the more I can't seem to build a winning team.

Fiddle with the lineups and the manager's settings, but leave the roster alone. You aren't going to learn anything from having players for half seasons. Plus, you're only two games under .500. A handful of dice rolls change and you could be four or five games better.

That said, I'd like to take your offense, drop Yaz for Joe Jackson, upgrade Ruel to Sanguillen and put the team in Royals or Crosley or someplace a little more pitcher friendly. Except for Yaz, you have a pitchers park team, but you aren't in one.

For the number of innings your bullpen is getting, you could have cut several bucks there and spent the money on starters. Spend the money where it will be used.

That's one view anyway.

In any case, have fun with it.

With your team ave, OBP, and # of doubles, I would have expected more runs. Do you have a lot of CS? Looks like you have these guys running, but a lot of them are good but not great basestealers. I'd also dial down hit and run if you have it set to normal, cuz you want hitters of this quality hitting off their cards and not the H&R chart.

On the pitching side, I might consider dumping Beggs and Wiltse for a rotation-stabilizing *SP in the 6M range if you really do want to shake things up. Otherwise, use Beggs money to upgrade Ruel to a Meyers.
