NLD 13 Draft thread

What the F@#K number 2

Postby Ninersphan » Mon May 01, 2006 8:27 am

Explain this one:

*** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 ***
0 H.Matsui 5 Fly Out b-0
1 M.Cabrera 3 Fly Out b-0
2 M.Kotsay 3 Triple b-0
*** TOP OF INNING 8 ***

From last night s game

where the hell is the third out??  Kotsay is standing on 3rd. there's no mention of him trying to stretch, or a steal attempt, ( which wouldn't heppen because of my settings. I lost this game by 1 run. What the hell is the deal here

I'm not positive, but I don't think it indicates when a runner is out trying to stretch. I would think he tried for an inside-the-parker and was gunned down. In fact, I can't think of any other reason it could be in this case.

Well, I can say that Wes Helms saw Nine's highlights and decided to stand on third base all inning long. :x

[code:1:2028175693]0 W.Helms 2 Triple b-3
0 3 L.Walker 3 Strike Out b-0
1 3 J.Snow 3 Strike Out b-0
2 3 V.Martinez 3 Strike Out b-0 [/code:1:2028175693]

I suspect you are probably right, especailly given Kotsay would be 1-16 out of 20 in that situation ( Run rating 14, +2 for 2 outs, +0 for CF arm), In which, case a tip of the hat to the CF for gunning him down, when he had an 80% chance to be safe.

But it should still be in the box score somewhere. It looks like a mistake.

Semper,

What are your relief settings?

As for Kotsay, I'd have to look at the RP results on the X Chart, there must be one where the guy gets thrown out, or misses a base. Something like that. I don't think there is any other way for this to happen.

BTW, you don't add 2 to the batter/runner, only the runner/runners.

Jet
p.s. we finally got our first sweep tonight! 8) Sorry JG

Joe,

I posted my issue on the main page with a collection of games where HAL just did me wrong (75% of the time). I had a few more but it got tiresome reviewing all the outings.

My issue has HAL has been less than consistent when pulling starters / relievers.

HAL allows Pedro to toss 10 plus innings three times this year but also yanks Pedro in the 6th or 7th after he yields less than 4 hits. It is not, as if, pulling Pedro does anything for my hitting or running scoring ability. These issues are separate. Moreover, I don't recall Pedro falling behind so a change would be desirable.

Besides, I'm not arguing that HAL pulled Pedro and the RP let up that one HR to blow the game. I'm arguing that Pedro or the other starters aren't in distress situations so no change had been required especially when HAL replaces the RHSP with a RHRP. :x

Otherwise, my settings are and have always been

[b:bc866ee586]Manager Settings:[/b:bc866ee586]

Conservative Relief / Normal Closer on the road - Maximum at home.

[b:bc866ee586]Individual Settings:[/b:bc866ee586]

Pedro, Peavy, Prior, Wagner / Politte: Slow Hook / IBB Less / Avoid using in blow out

Haren: IBB Less

Lee / Robertson: IBB Less and depending on the team "Quick Hook"

Riske: Avoid LHBs / IBB Less / Avoid Blowouts / Mop Up

Hammond: Avoide RHBs / IBB Less / Mop Up[/b]

WTF HAL!

Postby Semper Gumby » Tue May 02, 2006 4:00 pm

Can anyone tell me why HAL removes Pedro early and not Cliff Lee?

I'm more convinced now that the game engine is messed and TSN needs to investigate why HAL has an ad hoc manner about his pitching decisions.

Either pitch PEDRO the entire game or pull Cliff Lee early - not the other way around. :x

I know I'll regret saying this, but I'm working on what the Braves & Twins did in '91...Worst to First :D
