*Best team-building strategies, players for hitting teams*

I'm in the mood for hitting teams these days....what are some of the best ways to build such teams? What pitchers, starting and bullpen, are most effective in hitting parks, and which position players are best bang-per-buck?

How long of a list do you want Hack ? There's so many good hitter for hitters parks . Some personal faves are Simmons , Hank , Yaz, Hack ,Ruth , Mick , Duke , Mays ( but you can never get him ) . Starting pitchers are the thing to figure out which ones work in which parks . IF : Coop, Rajah, Yount, Mathews, Cal, Rolfe , Boyer, Gehringer, Red , Murray . Catchers , Carter, Dickey , Freehan , Campy , Lollar, to name a few . Pen : Garber , Garber ,Garber Garber and Lefferts or Richert. Perranoski depending on the park . Good D , ok SP and a strong pen with hitting , makes for a fun season . :D

Here's a fun strategy I'm trying right now: I'm trying to duplicate my Fantasim strategy by using cheap pitchers with good WHIP and then grabbing as much offense as I can. So I loaded the top of my draft card with Knepper/Boyd/Nolan/Cuellar and then built my offense from waivers.

So far so good, team is 17-10 and leading the league in scoring playing in Ebbets:

Never say always, sschu. Aaron is a much safer bet. Reggie is easier to get in the autodraft but seems more prone to extended power outages. Alou's not a bad 2 hitter with his low DPs and OF flexibility. I personally like to cheap at 1 position with a platoon (Nettles/Wera, Roseboro/Steinbach) to help the pitching and/or load up other positions even heavier.

C - Gedman (don't laugh, will hit 30-40 hrs and drive in 80-100 for 1.5!)
1B - Gehrig
2B - Morgan
SS - Yount
3B - Bando
CF - Thomas
RF - Simmons (many players you could plug in here)
LF - Alou (or RF)

(Could flip out Mays for Thomas, and go with an Ennis type in Lf...but I rarely try for Mays anymore, almost impossible to get, and Thomas can put up HUGE numbers here!)

SP's - Leever, Ruether, Cvengros, Frock, Speer, Vance, (you know the type :wink: )
RP's - Lefferts, Garber, Murphy, Riddle

Funny thing is, if I don't get Morgan, I don't win in Fenway. Don't ask me why, that is just the way it is! :)

One important thing I've found is the pinch hitter. Not worth spending a few mil on them, but guys with ballpark homers like Belardi or Wera can be very useful.

Bailey with a defensive backup is a good bet and easy to get.

Ott and Selkirk can be gotten pretty easily and in hitters parks will really hit like you want them to.

Speer is critical, because he's cheap and can pitch very effectively anywhere. Ford, Bagby Sr., and Coveleski have all done well for me.

Double plays can prevent huge innings, so you gotta maximize them on defense and minimize them on offense.
