Yep, Usually I check out the strategy forum before this one. You get some eggs dropping by there...not sure I can be of much help but Luckyman, dj, Sandy, Maligned, Dean, PBTR, T-Rich and a whole bunch of the classy dudes drop by there with cool stuff.

What do you need help with?

just my opinion

Postby rgimbel » Wed May 03, 2006 6:32 pm

mind you it is just my opinion but here goes
1. you need a 5th starter lee is good situational guy in shea but you need a 5th starter ishi will be brutal
2. dont think you really need rincon you should get someone cheaper
3.dh - I like phelps vs lefties but my exp with delucci is that he is a dog get someone who gets on more
4. 1b Pujols will have monster year in your park
5.2b Uribe- never seen him do well
6. ss- Vizquel is fine
7. 3b Jones- is great vs lefties should think about someone to platoon with him maybe someone with a better glove who can def sub as well
8. c- is fine
lf- dont like ford u need someone with more pop
cf never seen wilkerson do well
rf ichiro maybe ill suited for your p ark

as I see it you only have one real thumper. I have used in the past dh combos of thames or saenz or mike sweeney or morneau mackowiak or burrohs arent great but they make good platoons with chipper I am into 2006 now so I am forgetting some stuff but good luck

In the old forums, there was a link at the top page. Now, I need to make more stops before I get to the Strategy section. I don't go there as often aS I used to.

Another reason: I also noticed in the new forums that new posts in the Strategy section are listed as old posts so it's difficult to keep track what is new.

Wilkerson is solid. He will walk, score and knock in close to 100 of each. Not many others in that price range that can do that. Hits lefties too. Ichiro is good anywhere IMO. More valuable in pitchers park, but you could leadoff Ford vs rhp's(hides his DP's) w/ Ichiro #2(few DP's) and leadoff Ichiro vs lhp's w/ maybe Wilkerson #2(also very few DP's). Thgis would maximize people on base for say, Pujol's at #3. Ford is similar to Wilkerson. He won't overwhelm you, but when all is said and done, he puts up some solid stats for the $$$. Idon't liker Dellucci or Phelps much either. I would ditch Harenm, Ishi & Lee. Woody Williams is servicable and has ended up being my best pitcher a couple of times. Maybe a guy like Cook or one of the decent cheap lefties. I forget which one is good. It's either Wolfe or Washburn. I would keep both good relievers, as your starters aren't much too look at.

rgimbel thanks for the response,

1.was curious about my backend of the rotation will drop ishii asap.
2.my thoughts on rincon are with a weak back end of rotation and 2 sheas i could get my moneys worth
3.couldn't find a better dh vs. righties-delucci-best among few
4.ditto
5.wanted good d and n power-willing to find replacement
6.ditto-not good but fine
7.wasn't sure here either but card looked good enouh than d
8.ditto
lf-not in love with ford but he was there so i could trade ichiro and still have leadoff man
cf-never seems to hit ob or avg #s but good d,good health, runs well, multi position guy and good pop(read not great but good)-willing to listen
rf-ichiro is up for trade for 2 days and no bites- tried to trade staight up for berkman to no evail-newbie doesn't relize what ichiro could do in safeco

still open to suggestions and specific players help a ton.

Thanka Again,
ROBert

Another vote for Wilkerson here. I've yet to see him NOT do well.

I think that dj and Jerlins are voting FOR Wilkerson, so would I by the way, he gives you a good solid arm in CF with some pop, speed, flexibility covering all OFs and a really good OBP. I'd keep him.

I haven't plaayed citizens but in general I think you have a good bunch. I like Ichiro anywhere as well, sure he's a W but sooner or later you need some singles, not just rely on the BB - HR approach. Ichiro brings flawless defense, speed and a good solid SI** machine.

I agree that your pitching is a bit funky, I am not much into using spot starters, I usually went with straight 5 man rotations in the 05 set, for me it makes more sense but that's just a preference of mine.

I think the thing to keep in mind in parks where HRs fly easier is to keep the whip as low as possible, you know hitters will have their homers, so the last thing you want is walk guys so as to turn their solo shots into two run jimmy jacks.

The other thing you can do is look at your division's pitchers...if you see an almost negligible number of HRs and BPHRs in their cards then don't restrict yourself to looking at filling the LU with Ns.

I haven't had as much time to go through your team and/or division but just thought of some thoughts to sharein the mean time.

Good luck.
