Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby Semper Gumby » Thu Mar 23, 2006 9:06 pm

I won't get all excited about [b:d5cfea4289]Wally Joyner [/b:d5cfea4289]too early. If my guess is right, he'll need a few more LHSPs to make his card overperform. It ain't his heavy R tilted season -

On to other [i:d5cfea4289]hot out of the gate [/i:d5cfea4289]players, I'm seeing some of the paint come off of [b:d5cfea4289]Jack Morris' [/b:d5cfea4289]wagon here the last few games.

Not sure what card lurks underneath TSN's code but I had him pegged for 1983's season. As of late, he is looking more like anything but 1983.

Black Sheep or Misfits

Postby Billings Ballers » Thu Mar 23, 2006 11:48 pm

"Either way it was a sad day for the Black Sheep" said Pappy Boyington "I asked my men to go out there and perform on a wing and a prayer and quite a few didn't return" Some of the leaders of this unit were shot down in flame and will be missed. A toast to Eck, Oquendo, Buckner and Canseco just to name a few. Here's to the group that will come in and lead the Black Sheep to victory in the coming weeks. There are still several veterans of the unit whose fate is still in doubt and could be transferred at a momrnts notice

Why can't you follow the strategy in the Marines?

If you find yourself riding a dead horse, dismount - toss some more paint on it and tell yourself it will ride again but faster now.

I'm a proven product from the company that believes it can polish a turd.

Orel finally tosses a nice game, and then he forgets to oil his glove:[/color:3a01c54969][/size:3a01c54969]

[b:3a01c54969]*** TOP OF INNING 1 ***
0 V.Hayes 3 Fly Out b-0
1 D.Mattingly 4 Single b-1
1 1 M.Schmidt 4 Fly Out b-0
2 1 A.Van Slyke 4 1 Base Error - P 1-2 b-1
2 12 A.Thornton 4 Walk 2-3 1-2 b-1
2 123 J.Barfield 3 Home Run 3-H 2-H 1-H b-H[/b:3a01c54969]

Another Orel outing!

[b:3a01c54969]*** BOTTOM OF INNING 1 ***
0 L.Smith 1 Ground Out b-0
1 R.Sandberg 6 Single b-1
1 1 P.Molitor 5 Single 1-3 b-1
1 1 3 E.Murray 4 Walk 1-2 b-1
1 123 J.Lowenstein 6 1 Base Error - P 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
1 123 L.Moseby 3 Strike Out b-0
2 123 S.Kemp 1 Wild Pitch 3-H 2-3 1-2
2 23 S.Kemp 5 Walk b-1
2 123 T.Pena 1 Wild Pitch 3-H 2-3 1-2
2 23 T.Pena 6 Fly Out b-0 [/b:3a01c54969]

I've noticed quite a few self-inflicted losses by pitchers via errors / balks / wild pitches. Oddly, these tend to be fatal more so than the misplayed fly ball.

I hope Bernie inputs the X-Factor stats into the 80s version. We'll finally see how much defense is really worth.

Morrison is being a total bully at 2B for me. I think that he was pissed at not being a starter in this game and has something to prove.

Jimmy C

Aren't you the one that said Join the west Semper Fi teams are a gauranteed
win when you play against them.

My only hope is with the so called changes being proposed is they don't drop us out of the league for being inept.  On second thought a few of my 80s credits did disappear

I'll just keep plugging away It's not like I haven't been in the cellar before. The really bad thing is my players are so bad you can't give them away Browne for MVP

And you haven't seen my Final Four bracket

Actually I think that was Semper who used that old ploy to sucker us in before he flew off to visit his off-shore money in the Caymans.

I have to say though, that his team is looking very un-Semperish...I'm thinking that his wife may be managing this team for him. :D

Funny thing.

She did during my Cayman trip.

She hated it but I paid her off with a bottle from the island.

Otherwise, this team is very abnormal under my tenure.

[b:bee63d94ce]Jimmy [/b:bee63d94ce]- I did make a nice change of direction in our other league (going from 5-16 to above .500).
