2006 Auction League -- PRESEASON

Never said it was a big deal. This is just the first time I've ever done it opening six, and I would prefer Four.

I prefer Steak over Pork Chops too, but if I have to eat the Chops I will.

The last auction I was in Penn set it up as opening 6. I can't remember if he realized it should be 4-6 or not.

As far as baby bumps go, when Felix Hernandez is in the 30 millions you'll take away a lot of the fun if you have to bump by over 3 million. We'll have to be more cautious with our money and bid on less players in order to get those high priced players that we have to reserve $ for.

bumping johan santana from 20 to 20.5 with 5 minutes left on his clock is ridiculous....

On second thought, I think your're right.

....I should have waited the extra 4 minutes to see if someone would do me the favor of knocking that down :!:

IMO part of the fun is the little bump just as the hour glass sands are running out on close to fairly priced players......especially in a few days where you don't have the budget to rebid on a desired player. It is part of the fun.

As to a gentlemen's agreement (if any), I believe that would apply to early/low bids that waste our time (like bidding Pujols from 3.0 to 3.5) absent a good faith belief that the bidded player could actually be obtained at the marginal/incremental amount.
