wondering why...

Our historical single season sets

There's only one problem with all of this.

When using super advanced rules, ALL rolls on a # number are ballpark effect, not just the 1-8.

1-8 only refers to when you are NOT playing with park effects.

PBTR,

We are aware that the 1-8 doesn't come into play in this game, however if you look at every BP homer on every card it reads HR 1-8 next to it. In comparison, the other sets have a variety of HR results that become BP HR's in the super advanced game.

I believe Petrosian has some concerns about how much effort went into the statistical accuracy of these cards, when there is no variance in the type of advanced homer that got changed for super advanced rules.

I have the '69 set on CD. The cards i have are very different from the set here. I don't mean just clutch added and a couple of BP HR's thrown on. I mean completely different-- hard to find many rolls that even remotely match up.

I have the Killebrew card on CD, what is it you are looking for? There are no BP HR's on his card at all. But there wouldn't be, from what I posted above, the '69 set doesn't use them. I may be completely off base here, I admit trouble understanding SOM's byzantine system of what is advanced and super advanced, etc.

It looks to me like they changed the cards for this set? Then again, Petro specifically asked for a paper Killebrew card-- is there a difference?

harry,SOM made special sets for TSN. This was done also in ATG2. I had to create 200 players that were completely different on the CD-ROM for the ATG2 set for the Vegas tournament.

back to the original question since I dont care at all what park a player played in all I care about is the card and what data it has for each player.

Parker 1b-1e8
vs RHP 21 Hits 34 OB 27.4 TBs .6 HRs 2 BP
vs LHP 33.7 Hits 41.7 OB 54.2 TBs 3.3 HRs 6 BP.

Williams lf-3(0)e13
vs RHP 26.9 Hits 31.9 OB 46.2 TBs 2.5 HRs 5 BP
vs LHP 32.1 Hits 34.1 OB 40.9 TBs 1.2 HRs 2 BP

D difference here is definitely 1+ mil but the I dont believe Parker's strong hitting vs LHP offsets his weak hitting vs RHP enough to give him 1 mil more in value over William's balance hitting.

General Observation and small rant!! It looks like NO ratings numbers were done to value the players. Pricing here more subjective and less accurate then ATG2 because for ATG2 I ran all the ratings numbers for the players before pricing formulas were created. I declined to help with 1969 because Im done giving too much free time for absolutely nothing because I just too busy with other things now.

I knew you had to change some things, but I didn't realize they changed the whole card. I figured it was just adding a BP HR here and a clutch there.

Were some of the ATG cards COMPLETELY different? I wonder why they would change all the rolls so much-- for instance Killebrew has a HBP on the left side of one card and no HPB on the other card at all.

yeah, the card was completely different and for the Vegas Tournament I had to enter every column. Hmmm....I think guys like Yount, Carter and many others were very completely different for TSN ATG2.

I called SOM and asked if I could get the cards sent to me for the CD-ROM and they declined saying that its was a custom job for TSN and they wouldnt send it out to anyone else.

I guess SOM once again created brand new cards for TSN because the originals didnt have BPHs or Clutch on them.

Ok thanks, Doug.

That's kind of what I figured happened.

I don't really understand why they would change the whole card, though. Very strange. And why only change some of the cards and not all of them?

Any card that didnt have clutch or BP effects on them were changed. That means whole years were modified.

I suspect they couldnt just add BP effects and Clutch and remove some hits and pure homers. I think they probably have a program that creates the cards either for super advanced or not.
