Jimmie Foxx

Anyone have any #'s on him in Baker 15? I got shafted with my picks and grabbed him off the FA wire to play 3b for me. I've never used him and I'm thinking I can spend that $11mil in a better spot, but I think he should put up great #'s in this park.

Your team is not well suited for your park. A lot of your hitters (Boggs, Smith, Fox, O Neill, Speaker) have few or no BP HRs on their cards, and a lot of your pitchers (Knepper, Wilson, Cuellar, Taylor, Erskine) have multiple BP HRs on their cards.

I'm not sure if Foxx is the best option. At the minimum, I would trade in Boggs and ONeill for more powerful hitters - you already have plenty of OBP. Also, look for a couple deadball pitchers without BP HRs on their cards.

must say trey is spot on....that team will get killed in Baker. If you play in a hitters paradise you MUST have some HR hitters or you will lose. Your pitchers MUST limit HR's or you will lose. Foxx will put up good numbers in Baker .... lose Boggs for sure ....Bailey or T Simmons at catcher.... Covington is on the FA ..... you NEED power. Here is Foxx and Ripper combo in Baker.,.... look at G Thomas's numbers in CF ... this is the kind of slugging you need in Baker...

If you are going to have some "decent" pitching in Baker, I suggest the following parameters:

At least 40 BPHRs both RH and LH side, you have 16/22 now

At least 4.0 % HR rate both sides, you have 1.7/2.1% right now.

At least 3 good RPs and 1 or 2 cheapies, as you will need someone to come in when you SPs get bombed. Hernandez is a luxury you likely cannot afford. Ideas include Tincup, Lamp, Wyatt, Baumgartner, and cheapies like Watt or Anderson.

You defense and OBP is excellent, but you need some boppers.

I'm in your league, so don't take a thing I say seriously. But...you have some outstanding smallball players other owners will go gaga about. You should be able to work some trades to help find some of the players you need.

Thanks guys, I made some changes - grabbing Foxx and Bailey for the power and dropping Willie for Lamp and Watt.

I'm still not convinced that this is the way to go. I was looking at my division and see that there's a Polo 36 and 2 extreme P parks (Forbes 09 run by Nevdelly and Griffith 24 run by someone named Odyssey Tiger) - I was thinking about not just my park but playing in those 2 others. Also, my C Def was a factor in grabbing O'Neill - 1 of the teams in my div has about 6-7 guys with 20+ sb's and I think Bailey will get hurt just trying to throw them out.

What will Bailey do in a P park? I'm afraid he's going to hit about .190 on this team

I like your lineup changes, but that still leaves major problems in the starting rotation. Morris is horrible in general, and Knepper is not good in hitters parks. I might consider a five man rotation of guys like Leever, Norwood Gibson, Brazle, Munger, B Walker, P Dean - guys in the 2-4M range with low BP HRs - rather than that group, but it's up to you. Your crew has lower WHIPs, but the HRs could be deadly.

Having a couple OBP/small ball guys is always a good idea, but remember that you will play at least 93 games (your home plus the Polo36 games) in HR havens, and 24 (the two Forbes teams) in cavernous stadiums. I'd rather be suited for the 75% versus the 25% of games.

once again trey is right on .... OT and the nevster....2 of the most sucessful managers around ..... in that division a 3rd place finish wouldbe a win.....

still need to rethink the pitching ....
