$100M (No DH) Franchise Theme League Auto-Draft

Postby mike_miller » Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:43 pm

Anyone up for a $100M (no DH) Franchise Theme Auto-Draft League

The rules are simple....

1 - Pick a franchise

2 - You must have atleast 10 Players from your franchise on your team at all times during the season.

3 - No one can draft a player from any of the 12 Franchise selected at any time (except the manager that selected that franchise)

4 - Draft a team including free agents from the teams not selected and the 10+ players from your franchise.

There will be no live draft, the auto-draft will determine what additional free agents you aquire to help your franchise. In addition, we will Waiver Claim the remaining players to fill up the teams.

After the Autodraft, if you end up with a player from one of the other franchise teams, you would have to drop that player.

You cannot autodraft or Waiver Claim Players from other franchises...but after the waiver claim period ends, ALL free agents are up for grabs regardless of what franchise they are on.

You can use any stadium you wish...

I'm in if there are waivers and if the order of selecting the teams is determined by lottery.

OK, we will do waivers....Go ahead and pick a team...My goal is to have everyone pick their favorite team and with the format, the worst team in the league could win it all by autodrafting 15 great players to go with the 10 from their favorite team....there really is no need to do a lottery (just pick your team)...everyone stands a good chance (depending on the autodraft)

Here's an issue to consider: Assume we all pick players from the non-franchise teams in addition to those of our own, but when the auto-draft determines substitutes for contested FAs it puts one from a league franchise - who has not been selected as one of those retained by that owner - on your team. Must he be immediately dropped?

Also, must a franchise use its own ball park?

I would prefer waivers, since a frenzy is automatic as soon as waivers are posted (and I'm almost always available around 4 p.m. :) ). However, if we frenzy, I would request it to be at night, but not on Friday (I have to work Friday nights).

I would rather have the 10 best players from Baltimore than from the Seattle Pilots to start with. After selecting the the 10 best players from the Pilot's the Baltimore owner and the Pilot's owner have an equal chance of getting players from the same pool of free agents. Therefore the Baltimore team should have a steep advantage over the Pilot's team unless he really screws up picking free agents. I will pass unless everyone gets an equal chance of picking the best teams.

I know the Pilot's example is extreme, as in this format it would be impossible to win with the Pilots, but it just goes to show what I am talking about.
