"Civil War" Theme League

Postby LMBombers » Sun May 07, 2006 10:29 am

BED, the states listed are for the lottery draw as far as I know. I am from FL but put DC down as my lotto state because I like to use that one for some reason.

We welcome more than one person from the same state.

Bed---Bombers is right ---the state is for lotto pick...Your entry into the confed or union league determines what state you are in..Also Mocrash, you will have to enter the Union with George Thomas as your commander---Missou was split anyway so that is cool..Interesting statement about Thomas being the best---I say "Stonewall" Jackson was the best..Trivia answers were both right..I can see I will have to dig deep with you guys...

"Stonewall" Jackson was a great field commander, one need only look at his last battle at Chancellorsville to see that, although one wonders what was wrong with him during the Seven Days. Thomas I rank higher for overall command ... which includes tactics, logistics, communications, development and use of intelligence -- including cartography -- and coolness under fire (i.e. Stone's River, Chickamagua, Peachtree Creek). Had Sherman taken Thomas' advice on how to attack Johnston at Resaca at the beginning of the Atlanta campaign, the war in the west would probably have been over months earlier.

Love a little Civil War debate.

Trivia: Which Confederate cavalry commander took his forces on a raid through Indiana and Ohio before being captured?

No, that was John Hunt Morgan who crossed the Ohio and got caught. He later escaped.

O.K. You've got me checking in now for trivia Qs and As...might as well just joing the "incident".

Now, though I love History I HAVE to admit I am completely ignorant about the civil war. Nothing....I know NOTHING!...well, I don't mean [i:6381ea10fc]nothing[/i:6381ea10fc] but you know what I mean.

So, who wants to have the ignoramus? I live in Cali, so I guess that puts me under the line but I [i:6381ea10fc]wanna[/i:6381ea10fc] be Union  they had those really cool hats those guys

Now, kidding aside I was born in Wisconsin but now live California, if I understand the rules correctly I have to join the Confederates right?...but if by any chance you guys want to move me to the Union...please do :D

More Trivia

Postby LMBombers » Sun May 07, 2006 5:12 pm

SGT D needs to pick another lotto state as someone in your league already has NY.

In the first leagues we will conduct a 2 round draft for each league on this message board. Then we would put those two players at #24 and#25 on our AD card and AD the rest. Is that correct General Pelzer?

What was the only Confederate state capitol NEVER taken by the Union forces during the war?
