The shelling of Ft.Sumter amazingly ended with no deaths inside the Ft. from Rebel Artillery...However, while Anderson was using up his ammo before he capitulated sparks from one of the guns exploded the magazine well and killed 1 soldier and mortally wounded another...Anyone know who these first two deaths of more than 620,000 to come, were :?: :?:

OK, I live in Calif. also but spent quite a bit of my young life in Ark.---shooting squirrels for supper. If I may, put me down for the South--I will take Ark for the lottery state if they have one--if not just assign me a southern state who does! Cannot wait to kick some Yankee BEHINDS, YALLLL! :P

The answer to the trivia question is Tallahassee, FL. It is not that the Union couldn't take it. It was just that it had no strategic interest to them. Still it is an interesting trivia question I think!

Ok it is not looking like we will get 14 more managers so here is the alt plan...Please respond back as to whether you are still in so we can get started with drafting:

The managers in the Union will have the following teams to choose from and are only Union teams and may not be used by the confedracy:

These are the Southern teams and may not be used by the Yanks:

Baltimore

LA Dodgers
Atlanta
Florida
Houston
St. Louis
Arizona
San Francisco
San Diego
Colorado

We will have two seperate live drafts with each force doing there own draft of 5 Rounds..After 5 Rounds are complete you can place your selected players at the bottom of your draft clique, as they will be yours, and the fill out the remainder of your desired soldiers on your list and we'll AD at that point. During the live draft any players within your Reb/Yank team list are available..You can pick pitchers/hitters anyway you want to draft.

Each general/manager must use a Fort (Park) from one of your teams.

Trades are allowed within your Reb/Yank counterparts only.

At the 81 game, halfway point all Free Agents are considered captured and are eliminatd from play from that point forward and also no further trade activity will be allowed because resources are stretched for both sides.

80 mil/ DH

Each Manager will name his team after his state and use Rebs or Yankees at the end: ie, I will be -----the South Carolina Rebels---Kev would be the--Idaho Yankees......Use a general for your side as the manager.

The Eastern Div. will be the Yanks
The Western Div. is the Rebel
To determine which two teams from each side will be in the central we will have an additional lotto with the 2 lowest # from each side banished to the central division.

When you sign up please restate your lotto state. It doesn't have to match what state you live in. It only must be different from the other 5 teams from your side.

I would suggest starting seperate posts in the Individaul League Chat section of the forums for the 5 round drafts. Each side can keep up with what the other side is doing during the draft if you like.

I would like to add that as happened with prisoners during the beginning of the war any soldiers from the "other" side you get during the AD must immediately (or as soon as possible) be given their parole.

Also as was the case in the War the pool of North soldiers (players) looks to be stronger than the South. Hopefully the superior Generalship of the Southern forces will be evident again!

Good change of league plan midstream. Since my clearly Confederate Idaho has been banished from the South in earlier posts, that will be good bulletin board fodder for my team! We'll beat on those cotton pickin' southerners when the season starts! We have yet to begun to fight! By the way, potato guns can put an eye out....so beware!
