Help for a newbie: Westsidepark

That is a really nice team! Alou will give you more power than Jones. either one is great. I would bat them like this--

vs. L

Wagner
Rolfe
Clemente
Dawson
Alou
Murray
Evers
Gibson

vs. R

Wagner
Rolfe
Alou
Murray
Clemente
Dawson
evers
Gibson

Only additional change I would suggest is switch Salazar for Johnston, or another backup 1B. Rolfe and Evers can not get hurt so you do not need backups for them at all.On the off chance that Murray goes down, which will be a max of 3 games, you need someone to play 1B and Johnston is one of the best .50 ones out there. Too lazy to check your FA wire. :)

Don't worry too much about the errors. Wagner's offense makes up for both of them, and you might be surprised at the offense you get out of Evers. He'll hit a bunch of 2Bs and is great in the clutch.

Don't forget to put Aguilera in the 5th slot in your rotation. That way he will never get in the game unless all your other pitchers have been used. That will guarantee your RPs the innings they need.

Good luck!

I really like that team :D

I had to weigh in on my favorite park. I like the team for the most part. First, I like the idea of having one big arm but in West Side, you can afford not to in my opinion. I have had oustanding 20 win seasons from Dean, Grove, Lonbord, Boyd and a few others. I also think these guys can be good alternatives to Brown. I have not used Carlton in a nuetral park so I can't speak to him. Seaver is good here as well as Lolich and Holtzman if you had to go a little cheaper.

I would use the money from downgrading Brown to upgrade Gibson for sure. If Cochren, Beatty or Manny are there on the wire.

I like good defense here so I sometimes go with F.White at 2B. Of course if Gheringer is there or you could work out a trade for him, that would be sweet.

Other guys I would look for who probably won't be available are Cuyler, J.Jackson. I love Dawson!

My 2 cents.

A few more thoughts. I agree with a comment previous that you could also save on the pen. I like this combo and I go for this pretty much every time in this park with alot of success.

Beggs - Closer
J.Hughes or T.Lown
Dayley

In my opinion, this is plenty of pen. You could than use the extra money to upgrade Catcher and/or Second Base. I also would prefer Clemente in a small park like Griffith or Forbes.

Here are my championship teams in West Side Park to give you an example of players that may work for you there:

Well, I wouldn't change a thing, and West Side is also one of MY favorite parks.

Please don't swap 3 Finger for Marquard. It's a minor thing, but Rivera & Edwards would give you good speed, defense & LH bats off the bench (in place of Collins & Davis.)

I agree, have fun please. I think you take all of this and than make your own decisions factoring in the advice your instincts and your own research as well. I always find good tips searching the forums especially if I am playing in an unfamiliar park. Everyone who has weighed in on this I can tell you are class acts so great guys to learn from.

Good luck
