Civil War quote

"Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern School books their version of the war; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision"

Confederate General Patrick Cleburne

He was correct about the writing of history of the War but it has been kinder to the dead and wounded then he anticipated.

Hey DocTax, I hope Idaho isn't a state and a part of the union. I haven't paid any taxes in years! 8) 8) 8)

Answer to previous trivia question: The leader of the Massacre at Pottawatomie Creek was John Brown.

TRIVIA Q: Following the disaster at Fredericksburg, the Union changed commanders and crossed the Rappahanock, getting a brief tactical advantage on Lee. However, the boastful Union commander lost his nerve, and then the battle. What was the name of the battle and who was the Union commander?

BTW, I don't believe the teams should be named "Yankees" or "Rebels." Way too confusing. I think using the state as the location should make it clear enough which side the team is fighting on.

That would be "Fighting" Joe Hooker and Lee soundly thrashed him at Chancellorsville, Va.. (Visited the battle site a couple of years back when I was sent to Richmond on the job, cool place to vacation.)

That probably is true about the Reb/Yank naming,,I guess it would get annoying when looking at your upcoming games for the night it would always say Rebs or Yanjks and then you'd have to check to see which team all the time..Naming after your state is cool with me.
