LB,

Too hard top say, post your team. Mantle is awesome, worth the $$ IMHO, but Hendo is way too one sided.

Does the DH have to be an OFers? If not a good choice would be George Scott . He'll hit 285 -310 20-25 hr 's and maybe 80-100 rbi at Baker . If it has to be an OFers then Hendo looks like a good choice for the $$ you could spend .

It depends. Are the teams in your division extra LH to offset your Cobb/Mantle/Williams trio? If they are, Hendu is a perfect offset. If not, I've seen excellent success with some even cheaper DHs. McRae, Freeman, Sisler, Adcock, even Quirk/Javier and Bochy can really rake if they stay out of the field.

The numbers do not lie:

OBP vs RH 0.459
SLG vs RH 0.515
OPS vs RH 0.974
HR Rate vs RH 5.1
BPHR vs RH 47
OBP vs LH 0.466
SLG vs LH 0.490
OPS vs LH 0.956
HR Rate vs LH 2.5
BPHR vs LH 47

This is your starting 8, no DH. Clearly you have a major drop off in power vs LHs. You need a LH killer at DH, and a LH to offset his weakside. Gilliam adds little value to your team as you have Cobb for leadoff, get a true glove there or look for value against the SPs you will face. A DH combo of Hendo/Brock would perform well. Lollar over Freehan at catcher would also be a good option to improve power vs LHs.

Best of luck, sschu

thanx for the few ideas guys. what do you think of this to help the lh power
i dropped gilliam and picked up evers. then used money to change freehan to dickey and del rice. so i still use killifer as my backup catcher if rice and dickey goes down and if henderson goes down i stick del rice as my dh. and my if has a all no injury. link above. thoughts please? and 800 thousand to spend elsewhere. thoughts there also

Frank White is available , you could platoon Evers and White and have White come in late in games as a defensive sub . Also , Dickey is alot of money to spend on a possible 15 gamer. I'd get White to go with Evers, get cheaper catchers ( Whitt, Crandall, Gedman, etc) and put the money into your pitching staff ! Your going to need better SP and more RP @ Baker . Remember its a 100M league , so the pitching and hitting overall should be better . Your teams' staff looks like an 80M league staff.
