[quote:b69903b7ab]Question: Are our 40 man rosters set, or are we going to allow free acess to make roster changes prior to the start of the season?

Last year we allowed it, cutting it off once the season started, but that was the first year. I can't even remember what we said the rule would be, but I think the intention was to allow it (since everyone had a chance to draft any player who is still available). However, if any statements have been made contrary to that, that's fine with me. Just let me know.

Bubba asked this a couple of pages ago and I don't recall seeing an answer.

Can we pick up free agents?

For what? The players you DON'T want to trade!

Real Leadoff hitters are a valuable commodity in this game meaning you have to spend to get.

I think that Figgins batting LH vs. RH's, having a * with a 19 (Those two factors alone will raise the BA of the 2nd hitter by about .015 - 0.25 alone), and a extremely successful stealer with good speed (not a necsessity but definitely a plus) make him a very solid choice as a leadoff hitter vs. RH's. My only knock would be that he is "weak".

But Giles certainly would be a great choice so give Hawk the "team" he desparately wants! :P

Free Agents

[b:08b0cbfaa9]Must have missed that Stoney but my answer there is no. We were playing under a different set of conditions then. The real baseball season had just started and the majority of our draft was done already. We had some problems with Penn's site so we allowed ourselves some last minute fine-tuning.

In THIS case, we have had the benefit of the start of the current MLB season prior to our Draft (over a month which skewed picks imo), as well as plenty of access to all of last year's ratings and numbers.

[size=15:08b0cbfaa9]I think we all had an entire Free Agent draft to address our needs and that the premise for most was that WAS IT as far as getting our team ready and creating depth.

My answer therefore is NO and I disagree with Mike saying that was the/our original intention.[/size:08b0cbfaa9]

Especially since I found THIS post from him on the old thread:[quote:08b0cbfaa9]Mike_J

Sandlot can pick if he chooses.

Since we're almost halfway home, a note: IF we get the option of an unlimited salary cap (cross your fingers), remember that there will be NO TRANSACTIONS after the draft, Your 25 man 2004 active roster will have to come from your 40 picks. Just something to keep in mind. [/quote:08b0cbfaa9]

I would echo that same statement now.

If you don't like what you have then there's always the (up to) 3 Round Supplemental Draft after your first season.

Or trading![/b:08b0cbfaa9] :P

Hawk - anohter interested party has magically appeared! I have Tracy to start with, who plays both 1B and LF, and I have Leiberthal available at catcher and Wang/Haren/Bedard available at SP

Sandy, no offense but if you look back a page at my original trading request, I stated VERY CLEARLY that no player on my team was UNTRADEABLE. If Hawk wants someone besides Delgado and its a fair trade for Giles, I have no problem making the deal.

In the future, please do not put words in my mouth w/o carefully checking that they are correct first :P ...

Hawk - what else besides Delgado would you want for Giles?

And btw, in terms of next year, Delgado is having a great 06' while Tracy is NOT. Sorry Kav, all is fair in love and war :P  ...
