March Madness - Round 1 Review/Round 2 Discussion

Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

A COUPLE QUESTIONS

Postby hechojazz » Wed May 03, 2006 8:15 pm

1) At the conclusion of the regular seasons in rounds 1 through 3, are the playoffs played, or do we just take the teams that made the cut and proceed to the next autodraft?

2) When teams are placed in the three leagues of round 2, and the two leagues of round 3, will they be placed according to their finishes in the previous season or according to the manager ratings used the first time around?

...And A Third Question...

3) What are the tie breakers if two or more teams in a particular league bracket wind up tied for the last position eligible for advancement to the next round?

I can respond to question 1. Playoffs will be played and champions will be crowned. Obviously the will all be in the next round. As for tie-breakers, I think that it is head to head.

Thanks for posting those, rooks.

One of the things I've always wondered about is:

On any given night, when a draft is conducted, are the mystery cards really random or are they all the same no matter what league they are drafted in due to a code imbedded that gives them their mystery card characteristic? In other words, if three leagues drafted in a night, would every George Brett selected be the 1980 card? And every Doc Gooden the 1984 card? I truly don't think so, and have never been able to really test this hypothesis, but just glancing at the MVP/Cy Young award leaders, most of the lists do have different candidates, with a bit of overlap, as you would expect. The real answer will come when I check all the players between these four leagues after the season, to make sure they don't all have the same card. One or two players all having the same years is within the realm of possibility, but every player throughout the four leagues having the same card would stink to high heaven.

Anyways,
I'm truly enjoying this theme!

Yep. That's me! 3 games under the cut off line and 8 games behind the main pack. I never give up w/o a fight and generally do better when down for the count.
