You are right. And it is a trick question. The commander was Franklin Buchanan, but he was injured on the first day of combat. He placed the ship under the command of his Executive Officer, Catesby Jones, for the 2nd day of combat. The name I mentioned, Tattnall, apparently was placed in command in April because he is listed as the commander when the "Virginia"/"Merrimack" was scuttled in May 1862. I had to look at several places to find that information.... :oops:
