Even though Baltimore is north of Washington it was in a neutral state and in fact the people of Baltimore were very sympathetic to the South. Much more so than the rest of that state. When Lincoln was travelling to Washington after his election he had to change his arrival time so that there would be no problems travelling through Baltimore.

Yes, I understand the historical implications leading to Baltimore's placement in the South. I thought that Washington was South as another move towards "balance" which somehow has a Union territory like all of California ... with five teams ... also in the South. Historically, Missouri should be split, with Kansas City in the South and St. Louis, a Union stronghold, in the North. But, of course, the Rebs -- bushwackers that you are -- don't want KC's players, just those of the mighty Redbirds. Because of that, the Missouri Marauders will have to locate outside the Show-Me State. :x
