Can anybody improve this team?

This is a tough league with alot of high ranking owners. Naturally, the waiver wire is thin. Anyone have any advice?

I'm nervous about Wagner and Alou getting hurt too much, but don't know how else to improve. Has anyone used Gazella for a full season?

Division is smallball. I'm in Forbes, others are Astrodome, Candlestick and Sportsman '34.

Thanks

I like your team. The one thing I would do is slash some bullpen pitchers(Patterson and Miller) and improve Cuellar to someone like a Gibson.

I agree with Daniel. Don't worry about Wagner and Alou and the injury thing--if it happens, it happens, but Wagner in particular is perfect for your team. You have found some terrific pitching values for a deadball division, but you should cut some pen. I would shop Beggs to possibly upgrade one of your position players.

I have won several rings at Forbes and Wagner and Alou are 2 of my players of choice. If you want to go small ball, then you have to accept the injury bug. A lot of the better small ball players can go down for 15.

You could even take Beggs down to Staley . Keep Richert definately.

Here's a thought for you . Put Stan in LF , get a better D 1B , Judge type.
If he gets hurt Stan can spell him . You could take McCosky's money and get a 1B, upgrade 2B ,3B and possibly your 4th starter . You've got alot of injury risk in the IF . Surround Honus with better injury ratings. I'd back Honus up with Bancroft , he doesn't get hurt . Just a thought..or 2.

Thanks all,

Here's what I can do. Drop Beggs down to Gene Harris (I'm a big Diamond Dope number cruncher and he's a better choice than Staley in the parks I'll be playing). That gives me enough money to:

1. Upgrade Templeton to Bancroft - [b:2faf27167e]Do I really want Bancroft's bad defense?[/b:2faf27167e]

2 Move Musial to LF, drop McCoskey, pick up Joe Judge and upgrade Cueller or Oil Can to Bobo Newsome, Dave Stewart, Earnshaw, Derringer. That will improve my pitching, and defense, but really hurt my run production. McCoskey's numbers are awesome on my spreadsheet so don't see this as a huge improvement.

Any other thoughts?

I guess I'm a "gut" guy, not a diamond-doper. Based on my own experiences, I'd say this: do NOT drop Oil Can, he'll rock for you in those parks. But Derringer would be a real upgrade over Cuellar; the other SPs you mentioned aren't worth picking up. McCoskey is good, not great; Judge is pretty darn good, maybe a shade worse production than McCoskey. And Staley is more consistent than Harris.

So I'd take Staley, Derringer, Judge over Beggs, Cuellar, McCoskey.

But you'll probably get some different opinions!
