NLD 13 Draft thread

7 straight winning series now and a 4 game lead on the team with the second best record (Niner). At the risk of the proverbial jinx, I like this team a lot.

Also, did anyone notice how Harden kicked it into gear as well? He's won something like 6 of his last 7 decisions.

Jeep, can't say I'm happy for you, not only are we losing almost every close game we play, but check this out:

Your Current Injuries
Singleton, Chris, 4 more games
Valentin, Javier, 5 more games
Guiel, Aaron, 10 more games
Duffy, Chris, 2 more games

Recently off the Injured List
• Church, Ryan, healthy for game 101

Note, that we're carrying 5 OFers and we have three of them hurt at the same time. Actually, the game Singleton got hurt, we were down to 1 real OF.   :? All of the injuries were for more than one series.

Sometimes this game isn't a lot of fun. :(

It's ugly for the Shirtheads right now.

Joe, I feel for you, I know what it's like to get a barrage of injuries, and as you say, it's no fun.

Sometimes it appears that in these $100M leagues there's more injuries. Some of it can be attributed to possibly carrying more injury prone players due to the higher cap.

Also, it seems like when injuries hit it festers and you just get more and more.

Carrying 600 P.A. guys would obviously help, but sometimes you just can't help it, and have more inj. prone guys than you would like on your team.

Joe I too can definitely relate to the injury bug.My team has lived it all year long.I understand them hitting when you carry the injury roll players but it gets ridiculous when they keep being 15 game injuries.I have had 15 game injuries happen 7 times already with 3 other 10 game injuries and yes it really sucks when it keeps happening :x

I have ALWAYS maintain this comes up WAY to often. It's only supposed to be a 5% chance but it comes up way more than that.

I don't own the CD-ROM, but I've wondered if there is a setting in the superadvanced game that tries to limit ab's by using injuries.

Anyone who does care to comment?

I completely agree with you Niner, but can not offer any answers.

Also, not having to do with injuries, but there's WAY MORE triple plays in this game than there should be. A triple play is a very rare occurance (a MLB team might average one every other year or so max), but I see triple plays several times during the course of a season.

yeah, I know some of it's to blame on having a couple of injury prone guys, but having that many at the same time is what's a killer. Duffy's been hurt like 4-5 times already. I'm not complaining about that, just that to have 4 OF go down at the same time is pretty tough luck.

Oh well.

I too wonder if there is an attempt to balance ABs with injuries, but I'm not sure the numbers would show that. Would be interesting to see. I know some of you guys have a bunch of teams going at the same time. Take a look and see if you see a pattern. I'm guessing you won't.

As for the triple plays, seems to me that there are 2-3 a year in MLB. Well, wait a minute... OK, see: http://tripleplays.sabr.org/tp_sum.htm for all TPs in MLB history. Looks like 36 in the past 10 season (96-05) looks like 3-4 a year.

Injury Bugs? Ask Bernie

Postby Semper Gumby » Tue May 16, 2006 12:20 pm

You ought to ask Bernie about it.

Since we now know the story on the manager settings for relief - "this means that and that means this", I wouldn't be surprised if we learned that HAL has a stiffy for injuries.

Otherwise, I've had a few injuries along the way

Walker - 8 and 15 games
Johnson - 8 and 15 games
Placido - 8 and 15 games

For me, I expect to lose the player when he has the poor injury rating but it does [b:9f7f3087ee]appear[/b:9f7f3087ee] the 8 and 15 game penalties are the norm. Otherwise, Walker, Johnson, and Placido are tracking for 120 games played plus so I can't complain for the money.

TSN Bullpen Logic Testing

Postby Semper Gumby » Tue May 16, 2006 12:28 pm

[quote:f886cd6782]Hey everyone,

I'm forming a special testers group to assist me in testing some changes I plan to make to the bullpen manager code. The group will participate in 1 or more (most likely accelerated) test seasons in the 2006 game and each member will be expected to examine every one of his own team's boxscores.

If you have general availability over the next 2 months and an existing affinity for perusing boxscores, please post your name here. Serious inquiries only, please.

Thanks!

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that something screwy is going on with the injury "logic". I successfully employed a high injury risk strategy in the previous season, winning 12 titles and earning a place in the Tour Finals. I brought that strategy forward with me into the new season [b:c30931ca80]with disastrous results[/b:c30931ca80]. I have been [b:c30931ca80]absolutely hammered[/b:c30931ca80] by injuries, and my players are missing far more time than the statistical probability built into their respective cards. My teams, most of which were built before noticing this unfortunate trend , are now [b:c30931ca80]100 games below .500[/b:c30931ca80] on aggregate. So that's a [b:c30931ca80]few hundred dollars[/b:c30931ca80] down the proverbial tube. I'm gonna be cutting way back, as I am suitable disheartened. Not to mention pissed.
