Post poor in-game relief decisions here, Part II

bleacher_creature:
As you acknowledged yourself, this is minor situation, as I can't consider pulling a pitcher after 8 innings a terrible decision, whether or not you or I would've done things differently if we were managing. I'm only in the business of investigating egregiously bad moves.

Additionally, there is no overusage factor in play.

The computer avoided using Hermanson because he'd pitched in consecutive games immediately before this game.

These are his stats from his last four games pitched. HUH??? Are you telling me Torre isn't hauling out Rivera here. He's faced four batters in the last two days. And didn't pitch two games prior. Not that it counts for anything he only threw 18 pitches the last two games. Am I missing something here??? :?:

Bernie, I don't think it's minor to leave a pitcher in a close game in the bottom of the 9th! I'm glad to hear that the fix is straight forward however!

If I understand your other comment, you don't want any more examples of SPs being pulled early?

Thanks,

Jet
p.s. did you see my other post on curious subbing?

grayman, you yourself show him pitching in games 108 and 109, so he was not used in game 110.

I don't have much problem with relief decisions overall.

If we were taking a vote, I'd prefer that the attention go to fixing the lineup/injury replacement problem for position players.

bobm1007: That's TOO Quick of a Hook. He was pulled too early. The fix I plan to implement should be able to prevent this. Thanks for your submission.

2006 Sweat Sox

This one is a little strange in a couple of ways...
Sabathia is set to Quick Hook...
Duchschere has no settings
Relief Managerial Strategy setting is Aggressive

Sabathia is pulled in the 4th after giving up a S D HR.. no outs... only 3 hits he gives up all game along with 1 walk.... so 4 baserunners in total

Duchschere come in relief with bases empty.... proceeds to give up 4 hits and 2 walks and 4 runs.. and does not get pulled until the follwoing inning..

S.Hillenbrand 3 Double b-2
0 2 J.Kent 5 Walk b-1
0 12 M.Ensberg 3 Strike Out b-0
1 12 C.Figgins 7 Single 2-3 1-2 b-1
1 123 B.Ausmus 3 Sac Fly 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-0
2 23 J.Wilson 2 Single 3-H 2-H b-1
2 1 S.Podsednik 3 Double 1-H b-3
2 3 J.Damon 4 Walk b-1
2 1 3 L.Berkman 7 Strike Out b-0

so a VERY Quick Hook on my SP and my RP is left in until my team crys Uncle !....

Further info as I thought maybe usage or my settings on other members of bullpen might be creating the problem. Farnsworth is set to not come in until the 6th.. but Isringhausen is set the same as Duchshere.. i.e. no settings..

more info.. Isringhausen had only pitched 2/3 of inning the previous game and no innings the game before that .. so usage was not an issue for not bringing him in

Good Luck Bernie !

Just wondering why HAL took out Harang here. Manager settings are on normal. Harang is a S7* so he couldn't be tired.

Only setting on Harang is "Slow Hook".

Especially interesting is why Gonzalez is in to face a righty?
