Wild Thing?

Postby baracus68 » Tue May 16, 2006 2:29 pm

In my 7 '80s seasons, I've never seen anybody take a chance on Mitch Williams. I've never been the slightest bit tempted to do so myself, either. That WHIP makes him seem extremely overpriced. But in my current league, he's the only lefty reliever left on the free agent pile who hasn't already been bludgeoned, and I need a lefty. Anybody ever given old Mitch a try? I'd love to hear some testimonials. He seems like he might be able to keep the ball in the ballpark at least (I'm playing in Wrigley).

You will be dissapointed if you try him out. He should be a 75¢ guy IMO.

I think he could be a freakin' monster for you in a couple o' years. He's such a gamble for the price, though. And if you're gonna gamble, you ought to go with lower priced options, imho.

En Fuego, Whiplash, Batting Practice, He stinks...
He may be the single most overpriced player in the 80's set.

Thanks for the input so far, everybody. The majority opinion seems to back up my own, which is: stay far, far away from this gascan.

Anyone got any data? I mean has anyone actually used Mitch?

I still might end up trying him at some point if my team keeps limping along. I'm still trying to turn things around, but if i can't I figure I might as well experiment (and there's nobody left to experiment with besides Joe Carter's best pal).

I have him active in a 200m league. I have finished a year with him before.

Page 5 of this PDF has 1 Williams year. I have used him since then as well, but would have to dig a bit as this data was last updated in as of leagues I ended in Januray.
