My feelings are that the substitution situation is way worse than the bullpen management.

for example last night.

Edmonds gets hurt by HBP.

HAL looks up and down the bench and says who can i put in.....

should i put Corey Sullivan who is a * stealer with 15 runner or should i put in macias who is a * stealer with 14 running. Macias is slightly less potent a stealer as his base percantages aren't as good as sully's.

so what does HAL do? in comes Macias... ok kinda close so....

then when we take the field does HAL say nice job running the bases Mac, now hit the shower? Noooooooo.... he trots out macias and his 4(+1) e25 instead of sully with his 2(0) 5!!!!!!

rant ..... shuffling off now... mumbling to self..........

I'm feeling your pain. I've got Cora on a couple of my teams to provide top quality defensive backup at 2nd base and he's been seeing more sub time at 3rd than 2nd, where he's a 4e65, rather than a 2e8.

Perhaps the best thing to do, for the time being, is to treat this glitch as one of the given rules of game play: That any player on your roster capable of playing a defensive position in the field can and WILL be called upon to do so, no matter how you configure your settings, even when a better player is available. Period.

Treat the glitch as a rule, then work around it strategically by making a depth chart and drafting subs who excel at all their given positions in the field: guys like Singleton and Mohr in the OF and Sanchez in the IF. If you treat the glitch as a rule you might not want to place a flawed specialist like Cora or a supersub like Macias on your roster.

I'm not saying that as customers we should "accept" what is clearly an error in the code. I'm just saying that as managers we'd be foolish not to manage the game with this programming glitch as one of the unwritten rules of the game.
