I'm presently in 8th place overall, barely squeaking into the next round. I sure don't like having YountFan just a few games back because I know his team will improve during the second half. Hopefully my acquisition of Clemens will settle down my pitching staff. I've still got Hojo or Phelps available for trade for more pitching help.

Isn't it just the bottom 3 that don't advance to the next round? I think that is right. The Eggo Waffles have been on the bottom all year but are now making a move up the standings. After going through bad pitcher after bad pitcher it looks like I might have finally found a few diamonds in the rough in Zane Smith, Roger McDowell and Juan Guzman. If they continue to pitch like they have so far I think those 3 will be the difference for me to get me to the next round.

When the season started I thought I had a powerhouse team. It sure hasn't played out like that at all. It has been nothing but a struggle all year long.

I ended up with the draft of a lifetime. I should have known it was not good. I have been scrambling to try to find some hitting to get this team into the 9th spot. With Randy and Yount Fan battling for that last position, it is going to be difficult. My run differential is only about .5 per game so it is not like my team doesn't have chances to win.

I do know that my team has blown at least 12-13 save opportunities so even though my hitting is poor, I had to make a move by strengthening my bullpen and picking up Henke. Hopefully he will save enough games to get me into that final 9th spot. Here's to playing .500 the rest of the way. I think that may be enough to make it in.

Hot + Cold

I started out Hot but the team has been in a cruise control mode for a while now. The Irish have lost their edge in mid-season. I predict a strong late finish though based upon statistics.

I'm pretty pleased with the Cinderella Men staying in the thick of things despite a terrible 1st half from Eck and getting Yount's worst card. If my pitching starts pitching like I think it should the Men should make some noise in the 2nd half.

I'm just hoping I didn't give away too much pitching trading Clemens for Dale Murphy. Ever since Dusty turned into a pumpkin for his last 100 AB my hitting has been atrocious. I'd still like to keep Comer in the bullpen but may have to start him regularly.

New closer, same result. Henke blows his first save opportunity pitching 2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 5 runs. I think round two is becoming a pipe dream.
