Lineup Help

Lineup Help

Postby Ducapa » Thu May 18, 2006 7:49 pm

I know, I know....I am in 1st place but I am not happy with my lineup and I love to trade/tinker if it can help. I don't get Bay, its not like I am in a pitcher park and his stats suck so far, as well as Murton. I was thinking of dumping Murton, Small and possibly Fassero and pickup Prior/Garland and DH help. Some DH players available for platoon are Inge, Helms, Diaz vs. LHP and Soriano vs RHP though I could stand to use some more OBP help. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Other stadiums in my division are Citizens, Busch, Jacobs.

I don't know, but I doubt if any players are out there that are going to be as productive as Bay, second on your team in HRs and RBIs. Okay, his BA and OBP are well below expectations, but he's producing runs for you and those other averages may get closer to the norm during the second half of the season. Sometimes in Strat you just have to wait for the law of averages to take effect. It doesn't always, but when you start swapping around good talent -- and I know, because I've pulled the trigger plenty of times -- you are shooting blind. Other guys may look good on paper and underperform just as much over a short period. I'd stick with Bay, at least. I could take or leave Murton; he's not really right for your park, with its low BP SIs. I'd look for someone who kills LHP, since you're having a little more trouble with that ... maybe Emil Brown, Craig Monroe, Brandon Inge or Jose Cruz -- all with some power and few BP SI lines.

Oh no, I will not get rid of Bay, just venting. What do you think of Soriano for Dh vs RHP?

Soriano works a lot better in your park than Murton. I wouldn't bat him any higher than 7th, though, because of his low OBP and poor clutch.

:D Thanks for the tip...so you like Soriano vs. RHP and Inge vs. LHP? Also, what about my SP. WOuld you dump Small and Fassero for Prior or Garland?

No, Garland and Prior have natural HRs in the 9 line and that would make me nervous. Fassero is decent, but try to limit his appearances in Kauffman (I had Willis, a lot better LHP than Fassero, and he was awful at The K). I'd use Small or Dempster (which ever is not in the rotation) as my fifth SP at home, unless it's against a team that kills RHP. You just have to match up with those two. Set a four-man rotation, then use per-game starters to determine who will start in the 5th slot.

Okay so I will hold onto my SP and work on my DH, though I am in Miller not Kauffman  Of course the day before I want to dump Murton he hits 2Hrs in a game....oh well.

I opted for Mark Sweeney and Inge...more OBP then Soriano and decent power. I had to dump Hillenbrand, but looking at his card vs. Clark against LHP, its not too much better if any.
