Jeff Francouer's family lives about 4 miles down the road. His high school and the high school my kids attended are huge rivals since they are only 5 miles apart from each other off the same street in an Atlanta suburb. By all reports, his folks are as down to earth as you could ever find.
Jeff moved out of the house last year. Now, he lives about 5 miles the other way in a house with some of the other young Braves. (He hasn't spent much of the that draft signing bonus :) )

I grew up on the other side of the Rock...Stone Mountain. Those High schools you cite are good customers of mine(I sell library materials).
Sports are so competetive in that area of the city. Brookwood/Berkmar might as well be DII schools. Just last week the head football coach from Berkmar (Cecil Flowers) had to stand the trial of public scutiny after acting oddly while chaperoning at the prom. It seems that his meds affected him in an unusual manner. Any other teacher/professional/parent wouldn't have had to answer to anyone.
BTW- I'm in Canton now a days.

Brookwood (us) and Parkview (them). Berkmar is also in the area and in the same league. You are correct about quality of the schools. Terriffic athletics across the board and numerous scholarships for both men and women in a variety of sports. The academics are amongst the strongest in the state as well. People want to send their kids to schools that have money to invest in both teachers and programs.
As to the coach's troubles, Francouer stood up for his coach in the newspaper as did a number of folks at the prom. Without details being officially released, some speculate he had imbibed a bit before acting as one of the chaperones, a no-no for a teacher/coach if true.

quite a group we have here in the Atlanta metro area in this league(Though I will always be a Chicagoan just living out of place these days :wink: :lol:

No offense...but who cares what J.F's opinion in the matter is. I mean it has now effect on the situation(except in The South/Georgia/Atlanta/Gwinnett) .

We have probably bored the rest of the group to tears. Hawk lives on the southside. Right next door to that new 5th runway, I think. :P
A couple of years ago, a bunch of folks went to a Rome Braves minor league game. I didn't make it but I know Jeep was there. I thought you as well, Splinter.

Yall have got to come to Greenville, SC and see a minor league game in a brand new park, an EXACT replica of Fenway, green monster and all the nooks and crannys to boot. It sells out almost every night, they're the Red Sox single A team (So. Atlantic League)
