NLD 13 Draft thread

Postby Ninersphan » Tue May 23, 2006 3:10 pm

God,

It gets better, so today I get offered another TV directing job in a market close to home (Binghamton NY) ( Pays to little for the Hour and 1/2 commute though)

AND

Get a call for an interview for a different job I applied for at Syracuse University...

My life is nuts

BUT it's all good news so I'll take it... :D

Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket

Niners - best of luck with the search, it's great to have irons in the fire, even if life gets a little crazy for a while.

Everyone - don't know offhand how many of you are familiar with Sandy's Unlimited Salary Keeper League but I may start a version of my own since I like the format so much. Any interest from NLD owners? Plan is two play 2 seasons per year. Only tweak is that I intend to allow drafting of true prospects, on a limited basis, similar to Game Day Ritual. So you'll have a 25-man ML roster, a 40-man active total roster, and each year you can draft up to 3 prospects who do not have a ML AB or IP.

As you can see, this will require some serious time investment but I am already addicted to Sandy's format. It's as close as you can get to being a true GM of a team using the TSN/SOMO infrastructure.

I wish you noting but the best as well NP, and if there is ANYTHING I can do to help you out (SOM, life, etc.) please don't hesitate to ask.

The last guy I gave a job reccomendation to for ESPN was hired and now is the Sports Director at its Canadian counterpart, TSN.

I could give you one site unseen just based on your SOM leadership skills (which is what being a Director is all about anyway).

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Qk, I'd be in for another USKL, assuming my schedule allows.

[quote:79cd505958] hopefully I can stick around to be a challenger for the WC as I don't think we'll catch Niners squad.

Well I'd still have to sweep to take over 1st - but I won't argue that I have more of a chance now than I did last night.

I certainly was not expecting your team, which has one of the best home records, to get swept at home by Wineman/JTJs squad, which prior to last nights sweep, had one of the worst road records in the league.

Of course the exact same thing happened to me in an ATG II league, on the last night of the season. I was at home, with a team that played very good at home, against a mediocre squad on the road, and they swept me, causing my team to lose 1st place & the tiebreaker for the WC.

So I guess you're lucky in the sense that there are still 30 games to go so you've got time to break out of the mini-slump. :)

I keep crossing my fingers - hoping this hot streak my team is on does not end too early! Guess it just goes to show you'll never know what will happen in an NLD league! :)

Ninersphan: I figured you'd have to bow out - re TBK Part II - but I did not want to assume and replace you prematurely. Thanks for checking into the thread and posting. :)

congrats to the mystics on folding like the preverbial "cheaps suit". Really dissapointing i thought i drafted a legit squad this go around.

I guess i am officially the team that "underperforms the ratings" oh well. As i am a red sox fan i am used to "waiting til next year".

Quick,

I Would like to try my hand at a keeper league. let me know if you proceed.
