I am focusing more on keeper leagues + TPC this year, so am likely out unless I win a ton of titles in the next 2-3 weeks. I do have 4-5 teams which should be in the playoffs within 1-2 weeks so I'll check back after that & see where we are with sign-ups...

While we are waiting to fill the 4 Leagues out...I would like to hear from everyone(No matter how long you have played Strat) who your 5 toughest opponents have been. (I have played for so long, that there are many.) So I will list a 2nd 5 as well, but I'd just like to know everyone's 5 toughest personal nemesis'...

My Top 5 Toughest Opponents:
1. Luckyman - The only player I have NEVER finished ahead of in a league. A Mathematical Genius.

2. Riggodrill - We have had some great battles the past 3 years and I believe we have great mutual respect for each other. IMO, hands down - the very best player in the game. Numbers don't lie. I also don't know exactly how he does it.

3. Edgecitytx - not the huge numbers the others have, only because he doesn't play in as many leagues. But when it comes down to Tournaments or when it counts, Edge is always in the Finals Leagues. We have been doing battle - perhaps evenly, since this game began in 02'. One of the greatest user's of his entire roster that I have ever played. I never know who to pitch or hit against his teams, because he is a master of matchups.
One of my oldest and closest presonal strat Friends.

4. Kaviksdad - I could brag and say I was his 02' Mentor...But he could easily state that "Those who can, do...Those who can't teach." In 03'(02' season)this incredibly fast learner passed his teacher, leaving him in the dust and became one of the most well respected and feared players in the game - And remains that way still.

5. J-PAV - If Luckyman isn't the greatest master mathemetician in the game, then J-PAV is. These guys are able to play this game on a mathematical level that I cannot even begin to comprehend...I am very disappointed that J will not be playing in this year's tournament.

NEXT 5:

1. Jamie399 - Jamie has been kicking my butt in every format for 4+ years now, lately, I have been fortunate enuf to win a few times against him. One of the very best across the board.

2. Qksilver - Last Years LOTO Champion - I have been playing against Qk as long as anyone in the game. Altho I have finished ahead of him in Leagues, I have not usually fared well against him heads up. Interestingly enuf, I don't believe we have ever met in the post season...Lucky me. :)

3. TRich - There was once a time when TRich literally owned my teams...I hardly EVER beat him, but the past year, my teams have begun to catch up. But it will take awhile as TR has been beating me for a long time.

4. Cristano - Expolded on the Strat scene a couple years ago...I played in a league with him and he buried me. My reaponse: "Who is this guy?" When everyone challenged his ability to compete with the BIG BOYZ, I created a league for him to show his stuff against the Vets and he has more than held his own ever since. One of the highest playoffs to Teams Pct . of all teams.

5. Jeepdriver another Stratosaur who I have battled since inception. And one of my favorites to play against. Don't let his gemtlemanly southern accent fool you - He is a top notch ferocious competitor.

There are so many others, I could go on forever. But these are my toughest off the top of my head.

1 Geekor: He just loves sweeping me in the semis
2 AFDickie: He just loves beating me senseless
3 Spicki: He just beats me. Period.
4 Stoney18: I've gotten by him a couple of times but I can never figure out how to beat him.
5 Master Jedi Penngray: Loves sweeping me in the semis
6 45Beach: He just outplays me and outsmarts me...always :shock:

Rob, you come at around 1.5 in the list, between Geekor and Air Force... couldn't include you in the list, didn't want the comnish to think I was kissing up to getting favorable division seedings :P

Hope all is better there in 'Zona Rob, been thinking 'bout you and sending you the best of thoughts. No kidding with this last (bit corny) statement :D

My wife and I usually have a quarterly blowout...She's a nice, cookie bakin', sheltered, a little insecure, suburban midwesterner from a totally different generation...I am a typical, Intense, East Coast, chemically imbalanced, competitive Italian with a huge personality, insomnia, very impatient with a volcanic temper, but a very long fuse.

A lot of things don't bother me so I don't feel it necessary to address every little issue, every time...But when the small stuff adds up over a long period of time, I haven't slept for weeks and the barometric pressure is making my joints feel as though they are going to literally explode, I tend to overreact. Even the drugs don't work.

I am just not one who argues much. If I am wrong, I apologize, fix the problem, promise to never do the same thing again and move forward...

But if I have an issue and it is justifiable enough to warrant a discussion, I have to speak my peace...If it could end right there, it would be ok...But it always seems to escalate into something we wish didn't later on...

Fortunately, I am good at apologizing and smoothing things out for the common good of all concerned. So, basically I have until September/October...So my 1st round should be safe now. :wink: Robert

I think the opposite matchups are often the best. In my case it is the opposite, she is the explosive and I am the calmer...works out fine...opposites attract and compliment, that's what they say.
