I continue to be amazed at the parity in this league which was correctly predicted by those who ran sims. Nine of the twelve teams have between 65-72 wins and half of the league is separated by a single game with either 71 or 72 wins. One game for half of the league! The playoff race changes every night. 8)

I wonder if it's more a function of the extra $20 million per team than anything else. That $$$ covers up alot of mistakes and perhaps dilutes some of the platoon advantages and team strategy of an $80 milllon league? Or perhaps just incredibly balanced drafting amongst veteran owners?

Whatever is going on, NLD 13 is headed to a wild and crazy finish! :D

The latter, at least given my expierience in this league it's ALWAYS competitive, I think thats why we keep coming back.

Again, as usual, wouldn't have it any other way.

Cleveland Retirement - Long Overdue

Postby Semper Gumby » Fri May 26, 2006 11:04 am

Gentlemen,

I appreciated the chance to play again this season. [b:6ac6a47b51]I truly do [/b:6ac6a47b51]despite my rants about the $100m format and TSN's pitching logic coding.

Unfortunately, I have clearly lost the zeal for the TSN SOM since my return from second visit of Iraq. Notwithstanding my 2006 result(s) - I've done quite well in 80s format yet I rarely check my standings but once per week, if that.

To that end, I'm winding down my participation in all leagues and will exit quietly from stage left.

I'll miss the forum and everyone here but time to change focus for the good.

[b:6ac6a47b51]If you need a replacement for my slot, I've polled Sandlot as to his interests and he'd like to re-enter the league again.[/b:6ac6a47b51]
:P

Semper Fi,

J.P.

I'm sorry to hear that. Your comments & atttitude were definitely a positive in NLD, and although I'll be glad to have sandlot back in the league, your presence will indeed be missed.

I hope that you'll eventually regain your enjoyment of TSN SOM and that we'll hear from you in the near future!

Best wishes,
Nick (ArrylT)

Sorry to hear you are leaving Semper.

On a related note, I am slowly but surely dumping all of my TSN SOM commitments. I am extremely busy these days, and I have definitely lost the love for this. [b:225450ad4a]Having said that, this is the one league I will be making time for[/b:225450ad4a]. If I am away from the boards, can I ask someone to contact me at clmahon@hotmail.com whenever a draft is set to start?

Cheers guys,

Chris

Ugh, double bad news tonight. Semper leaving? I'm sad to see you go. Say it ain't so! You always make the league more fun. :(

The other bad news? The Shirtheads are just waaaaay too streaky. I hate this game. We lose 8 of 9, win 9 in a row to actually get back in it, then promptly lose 6 friggin' straight including 3 by 1 run with 3 more blown saves :( We're up to 28 blown now.

I keep hoping Ortiz is going to get hot, but he's been in the 230's for far too long. <sigh> He's driving in 91 despite stinking it up, if he was anywhere near his .300 average from last year he'd be leading the league. Oh well, just not his year I guess. Wright is like our only bright spot for the season at the plate.

This team just can't seem to time the run scoring. We're still +38 (4th best in the league) , but 5 under. Looks like we're a long shot unless we can put on another miracle streak.

The Chico team was involved in just a couple of sweeps all season long. Here are the results of the last 6 series:

Got Swept
Sweep
Sweep
Sweep
Got Swept
Got Swept

Yikes! From no sweeps to only sweeps - you don't see something like that very often.

Meanwhile I continue to fly under the radar, which is fine by me. I get the feeling people are under-estimating me due to pre-season ratings and/or polls.
