Yount Overpriced?

Yount Overpriced?

Postby JohnnyBlazers » Tue May 30, 2006 1:35 pm

I'm starting to think he's overpriced. Don't get me wrong, he puts up nice numbers, but at that price tag is he worth it? Throw in all his DP's and errors, and I think he's about 2-3 million over what he should be really going for. Maybe it's just me, but in the 3-4 teams I've had him, he is very inconsistent. Opinions?

Yount is one of the best values in ATGII. I would have him on my team everytime if I could. Can he put up a (relatively) bad season? Sure, but so can Cobb, Gehrig, etc. I rank him just behind Mays and Alexander as about as sure a thing as you can play in this game.

Out of curiousity, I'd like to see the inconsistent numbers he gave you, with the stadiums indicated. I rarely get him, but he does well for me when I do.

I play in Fenway '67 alot, and take him everytime, if I can get him (which, thanks to the addition of Mr. Banks in atg2, is most of the time. You could NEVER get him in atg1). He is VERY CONSISTENT! Cases in point

[b:d54f7e2421]Yount Scores 146 Runs![/b:d54f7e2421]

But it isn't just the HR's, it is the runs scored, Average, Slugging, OBP, fielding (a 1)...alway STELLAR!! So he hits into some DP's....he MORE than makes up for it in his offensive numbers, and his ability to turn the DP.

My advice to anyone would be to take him whenever you can, and you will never be sorry!

Everything those guys said, plus you have to factor in his position. He and Banks are the only sure-fire big-gun shortstops in ATG2. After Wagner and Pesky (and maybe Ripken), the cupboard is pretty bare in terms of offensive production. So that has to be worth a couple million right there.

I couldn't agree more with Mike. I like to play a lot in Fenway as well. If I can get Yount (and Hornsby), I can almost guarantee a winner in Fenway.

Yount sucks, never use him, never draft him.

look at these numbers he put up while typing this post..

In Wrigley '06--

BA .230, SLG.390, OBP .310 2 HRs, 12 RBIs

The guy's a bum, avoid him at all costs.
