Mora vs Randa

Mora vs Randa

Postby longgandhi » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:43 am

It's my first time using a pitcher's park (I opted for Kaufmann) and was wondering how much impact it has on power production and how closely I need to pay attention to handedness and defense at third.

I have Mora, but Randa, Hall, Jones, Ramirez, Glaus, Lopez and Cantu are all available. I had targeted Figgins but someone else beat me to him in the draft.

We're still in the waivers phase and I already plan to rework the pitching staff using the remainder of my salary cap.

Other stadiums in the division are Great America, US Cellular and Jacobs. TIA.

Grab Hall

I've yet to see Randa produce and Mora is too one-sided and BP dependent for kauffman.

I've used Mora 2X and both times he's been around .300 with .360 OBP.

He'll hit 20-25 HR's too.

I think he's a good value but splinter does bring up some good points.

I'd 2nd. Hall here.

Check out this team after 159 games. Randa was one of the few bright spots to this team. He has 62 doubles! I'd say that was production. OK, his average isn't great but 62 2B, 13 HR and great defense isn't too bad I don't think.

I was greatly dissapointed in what I got out of Vlad and Teixera on this team. Kotchman did as good or better than these two.

I've used Hall a couple of times with mixed results.

On this Miller Park team he wasn't great

On this Turner Field team he has been very good!

His defense doens't compare to Randa but he probably will hit better.

I'd be more disappointed in Peavy! 12-25?

I've used Kotchman and gotten similar results. Good value in a hitters park. But he does need a platoon...

Actually Kotchman's OBP vs LHP is probably as good or better than vs RHP. He just has no power vs LHP. If you could live with walks and singles vs LHP and power vs RHP you could play him full time. I did platoon him with Niekro on the above team however. With what I got out of Niekro I would have been better off to play Kotchman full time.

You're right about Casey's OB vs. RH/LH.

Vs. LH's he's got 38.3 OB chances and vs. RH's he's got 35.3 OB chances.

It's amazing with Neikro. I've tried him a few times without any luck. 56.7 TB vs. LH's and I've had to dump him every time... :(

Not sure how we got off on Kotchman, but thanks for the insights guys. This is the team after the waivers:

Any other pointers would be appreciated. Didn't get Soriano so I'm kind of looking for a platoon DH against righties. I have Carlos Lee in that role for now, but I'm afraid he's too BP dependent. Was looking at Reggie Sanders but the injury-rating is a bit frightening. Thoughts? TIA

I don't like Carols Lee for Kaufman. You also don't have a backup 1B for when Clark is injured, and he will be. I know you play in a pitcher's park but I still am not sure you have enough quality pitching. Half of your games will be on the road.

Bomber is correct about Lee and pitching.

I would try a guy like Clark or maybe Eckstein or Catalanatto even at DH..good speed and OBP. Nice features for Kauffman. I'd play Thomas both ways at DH(for power purposes) until he is injured then sub in Clark etal.
