Franky35 ..I will be able to take proxies when needed..I'm sure other GM's will be willing to help out

FRANKY35 - I signed you up because from your comment I feel very confident that this won't be an issue. Just ask anyone in the league who has played the Theme. Saturday is just a small part but exciting part.

If I'm not able to draft on saturday, I'll email a gm that will be drafting. I suggest some kind of rule for how long to make the saturday draft.

SATURDAY DRAFT GUIDELINES

Postby rschwartz51 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 1:56 pm

In the ATG2 THEME LEAGUE the DRAFT had a window of a HALF HOUR for each manager to make their picks. Proxies many times are used, especially from those with the 1 pick.

The way it was set up was that the first pick was set at 9:00 am ET and ended at 9:30am. Once that time was hit the next manager drafts even if the manager ahead hadn't picked. Any manager who missed a pick could jump in at any time.

This is a very low key draft.

A NOTE - I'm against the 9:00 am ET start as I'm on the West Coast and I felt 6:00 AM PT on a Saturday was not fair.

The draft will begin the end of the first week.

The teams with the 4 lowest records from the week ending will get 3 picks. Then the next 4 teams, 2 picks. Then teams with the best 4 records 1 pick. Ties are broken by the worse Run Differential getting the lower seed .

I think 11:00 am ET is perfect.

I'm wondering if we narrow the overall window down from an hour for every manager to an hour for the top 2 picks then go to a :15 minute or half hour window.

Welcome to AP, long time no see!

Just a note in case this fills tonight or tomorrow:

I'm away from a computer from Saturday morning until Sunday early evening Pacific time. So if I'm holding up the franchise draft, I'll be back on Sunday evening, and I apologize in advance.

I'm excited to participate in this league and I think it'll be a lot of fun. However, I think that this may be a different situation than ATGII. In ATGII, all the teams are loaded with superstars. Here, I think there are two superior teams and the later picks won't have much of a chance. To make it more even I suggest a supplemental draft for the later drafts (maybe a reverse order supplemental pick for all 12 teams but limited to one unselected team, for example, after the draft everybody could draft one player from the highest-salary, undrafted team). Also, if there is a draft on the first Saturday, I'm taking a dive for games 1-15 - so, the second saturday might be more fair. Again, another difference from ATGII is the very limited pool of high quality available draft picks. Just my 2 cents. I'm in no matter.

DRAFT VOTE REQUESTED

Postby rschwartz51 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 7:27 pm

I think we should start with the end of the 1st week (to allow the worst teams to catch up with the best teams) and do;

12-11-10-9

8-7-6-5-9-10-11-12

4-3-2-1-12-11-10-9-5-6-7-8
that way it spreads out the talent a little, but still gives the bottom four the best picks - 3 - 2 - 1.

or

Draft following the Draft of Franchises where in reverse order of Franchise Salary we get to pick 1 FA and then a the FA Draft would be as follows:

12-11-10-9 3 PICKS
8 - 7 -6 -5 2 PICKS
4 - 3 - 2 -1 1 PICK

There is a Problem with doing it the 1st way and that is each manager has to be involved through the draft where in the 2nd way you leave your proxies with your picks our you do it 1 time and then your finished.
