fenway pitching

Postby Essex Moosemen » Thu Jun 01, 2006 1:53 pm

I have not seen any Fenway teams, and I ma kinda in a quandry about my SP's.

Any thoughts on reasonable priced Fenway starters/

(lotta lefties in my division)

Thanks.

Some Success

Lefties tend to do poorly in Fenway. But Buehrle seems to do well. Clemons does well anywhere. I've also had some luck with Colon. I like to choose pitchers with fewer hits than innings pitched. Look for pitchers with no BPHR vs righties. BPHRs are OK vs lefties.

I've had much sucess w/ Doug Davis everywhere...he did very well here in Fenway. I tried the LHP here and as you can tell, they didnt do very well.

I would say Carpenter is a must have. Maybe worth a #1 pick in Fenway. I used to always use Moyer there when he was a 6R and he won 20 a time or two. Currently using Santana. I wouldn't use anyone that was not "R" rated.

Radke is an option also. I used him in MM and Petco and he made the all-star squad both times, winning 17 and 19 games, respectively. Fenway is made for him. If there is another RH park or a pitching park in your division and the league is moderate or less, he's a big bargain IMO.

I'm trying a Fenway team...

I did exactly what you advised dj, and took Carpender w/ 1 pick.
I'm also using, Radke, Patterson, and Lee. With KRod as a closer.
League doesn't start until Monday, so I'm keeping an eye out for pitching options. Any suggestions about the pen???

Some suggestions:
SP's- need to upgrade after Patterson. Sosa could be OK. Your pen isn't deep, which is OK unless you are using a lot of S(5) guys, then they'll have to pitch a lot and you'll pay the price.
RP's-Krod a good choice. I would set him as closer and set up both ways to hide some of the lack of depth in the pen. Calero is good, but when you have so many RH pitchers, he probaly won't get used enough. You could use a somewhat cheap guy like Timlin or Seanez to help out Krod.
Lineup-I would dump Redmond and start Matheny. Too much $$$ tied up in catcher. Matheny did this for me in Fenway:
505 49 120 32 1 17 66 31 104 0 1 0 .238 .291 .406
Not a world beater, but pretty good for $1.49 and still 18 games left. IF is very good. Dump Renteria, as Arod played in all 162 games and does not need a backup. I might do different in the OF, but it's not bad.

I think he might be using Renteria as part of a DH platoon with Lofton.
