Mora vs Randa

Postby longgandhi » Sat Jun 03, 2006 9:22 pm

I traded in Rivera for Nathan to free up some money for starting pitching. I'm hoping to use Escobar and Schilling as long men so that I won't have to have studly starters.

I've seen guys like Byrd, Radke and Vazquez have moderate success in an extreme pitcher's park but they aren't available. So I'm looking at cheap starters with BP homers but is there a breaking point where a guy simply has too many homer rolls for even Kaufmann? Am I even on the right track? Am I nuts to think that Rodrigo Lopez might not be too bad?
Or Jorge Sosa? Tim Hudson? TIA.

I'd consider keeping Hall.

Looking through the FAs in your league I'd consider a Bell/Woodward platoon or a Bell, Aurilia.

Wha I would do? I'd get Pete Orr and go with him, probably platooning him with Chris Gomes

Pitching wise, I'd use the money I saved from that 3B and upgrade my setup man, nothing big, an R2 in the low 2 mil. should suffice and the rest I'd inject in my rotation. I'd consider consolidating Becket and Escobar into a solid #2 *SP, and Bedadrd and Bonderman into a #3 *SP with Hernandez rounding out the roatation. Then get an extra RH specialist or a long relief mopper to round your staff of 10.

Good luck.

About the only decent *7 starter left is Randy Johnson. Isn't he gonna get singled to death in Kaufmann?

I'd say The Unit will fair very well in Kman. Don't worry too much about the dink singles in Kman. You have solid middle D(extra DP"s) and good OF arms(keep the opponent playing base to base). These 2 attributes will offset any issue over base hits.

OK, I'll give it a go. The division features a few of the better lefty hitters (Ortiz, Dunn, Utley) and two of my biggest "rivals" have set up shop at Safeco and RFK. At the very least he'll blunt them.

Thanks for the input, guys.

At Kauf with a predominantly LH Div. I would give Conine(If available) a good look. Great Avg, Lots of OBA, a great fit in front of Clark with all those natural HRs. He hits and gets on base in ANY Park. Plus he plays 3 positions and can fill injury spots, while giving you a good RH reverse hitter for the RH Rev pitcher's you will see.

Would love to have Conine but not sure where I'd play him. Have Podsednik, Tavares and Abreu in the OF. The division has Jacobs, US Cellular and Great America. Is Conine a better choice than Shelton for DH? Good stuff, guys. Thanks.
