Which cheap C in a neutral park?

Which cheap C in a neutral park?

Postby Land Baron » Wed Jun 07, 2006 9:50 am

I'm playing in Fenway '46, and had a lousy draft that left me without most of my hitters. Waivers run tonight, and I'm trying to salvage a lineup as best I can, but I think I want to go cheap at C.

Who does everyone like in a neutral park?

My short list includes:

Schalk
Tebbetts
Mancuso
Crandall
Ruel

If it matters, my division has Candlestick, a Dunn, and a Fenway '67. I'm already too left-handed, so I'm looking for a right-handed C, and I'm not too concerned about the team in the 'stick, because it doesn't have the usual dominant pitching staff you'd expect to find there.

If the majority thinks he's worth it, I could go as high as Lollar as well.

Your opinions, please.

When $$ allows I like to go with Battey in pitcher/neutral parks. Lollar if I needed his pop in the lineup. Schalk for cheapie in Pictcher parks...

Have been a dynamic duo for me - went a whole season without an error or a passed ball!

You should consider George Gibson.

Schalk from that list, but Lollar if he is available.

I think Gibson is probably on 85% of my teams.

Nice defense, better OBP than Schalk, great speed for a C, and can produce some surprisingly good seasons on occasion.

I prefer Schalk. Tebbetts can be effective also, but be prepared for lots of errors. He did have 100 RBI for me in a $60M league.
