As for his second pick -- his no card proxy ran out and he does not have access to the draft site from work.

Sooooo -- [b:5f9b3fe349]his scrub pick of Ryan Wagner (which he will post when he gets home) = Darren Oliver[/b:5f9b3fe349].

Unfortunately, that means we will have to wait for his clock time to expire and then skip him (if he hasn't made it home by then).

I have to bolt. My next proxy is Milwaukee's ballpark for Kenny Ray, a "Roy Hobbs" story if ever there was one.

Ray is a local Atlanta kid who had a cup of coffee with the Royals in 1999 and never made it back due to a variety of reasons including injury. At 32, he may get a chance to close for the Braves due to Reitsma's relief work resembling that of an arson squad rather than Fireman of the Year. A feel good, long shot story about a guy that wouldn't give up , knocking around the minors and independent league teams, and now has a chance to make a dream come true due to everything falling into place just right.

He had a save last night to snap a five game losing streak for Atlanta. More to come? 8)

Aaahhh -- I was just going to tell you that you can SKIP Qk Beach.

His time has run out but he has already "made his pick" with the no-card choice of Ryan Wagner for Darren Oliver.

[i:b6a153dda2][b:b6a153dda2]Meanwhile Beach, Kenny Ray may NOT be no-carded as he did NOT play in the Majors in 2005. He can ONLY be taken in the Prospect Draft.[/b:b6a153dda2][/i:b6a153dda2]

[b:b6a153dda2]The no-cards replacements are for players that received "no-card" BUT actually PLAYED in the majors in 2005.[/b:b6a153dda2]

That's why Cain and Liriano are "no-card" choices for you.

Kenny Ray may not be.

Sorry

Now we are stuck waiting for Qk to come back AND Beach having made an invallid pick.

Oh well, he will have to repick too when he gets a chance.

[b:b6a153dda2]Also, SMOKEY -- you need to repick as well as Gagne has already been taken.[/b:b6a153dda2]

We're coming down the stretch guys so be careful with you last pick or two.

[b:b6a153dda2]UPDATE -- apparently it was ME that did not read the rules correctly so PLEASE disregard the above nonsense.[/b:b6a153dda2]

Ken Ray

played in 1999 for the Royals. I think that makes him eligible according to the rules:

"A 2006 rookie who did not appear in a game last year is not eligible for this draft. The player does not have to have a valid TSN card, they only need to have played in MLB last season or prior to last season."

Plus I think he was a LONG ISLAND Duck for you Met fans-Bud Harrelson Manager.

Well then we need a clarification because I specifically did NOT take him earlier because I thought he HAD to have played in the Majors last season. :?

I'll defer to QK here but I thought that was the case. :(

This seems pretty explicit however. I guess I was just thinking about the USKL draft.

My bad. My loss.

Hard to believe he lasted this long then (unless others didn't ralize he played in the majors in 1999 too).

There are a couple of other picks that did not play in 05 but have major league experience.

Darren Oliver & Baldelli are a couple.
