I think the loss of Kent, UNIT, Reed Johnson & Matsui is a harsh enough penalty for an honest mistake.

That is correct. I posted a list of scrubs above - but owners can use their judgement as to what constitutes a scrub (basically a .50 player with a horrid card both ways).

My turn to screw up. I did not go back and add pitchers to my proxies. I have one too many position players. I guess I can just drop one of my hitters, and then pick a pitcher the next 2 until I am done (except stadium which is last). AT, let me know if that is what I should do?

that is not true at all. i had people who i wanted to draft that i couldnt (because of monetary constraints), thus traded dlee away. at no point did i ever go over the cap.
