M Sweeney is due up next, and so the manager brings in M Gonzalez (LHP) to face Sweeney's weak side. The winning manager counters by bringing Sheffield off of the bench, who hits a game winning single.

Little-used Marcus Thames pinch hits for Bob Howry in the bottom of the 9th with the PoBoys trailing the Bums 4-1, the bases loaded, and two outs. He goes yard off Jim Mecir to win this no DH, Players' Tour game.
