Can HAL change your lineup for no reason?

Postby the icemen » Fri Jun 09, 2006 7:44 am

In game 2 of my series last night HAL decides to start Randy Ready over Kirk Gibson who was listed as my starting rf'er. He started game 1 of the series as he should. In game 2 HAL moved Kemp to RF and put Ready in LF vs a righty and removed Gibson...Ready gets a 10 game injury!!!!!!!
Game 3 Gibson is back out in rf and kemp is in left...damage is done. All 3 games of the series were against rhp'ers and there was no injury in Game 1 requiring HAL to make maneuvers as I can see.

Is this supposed to happen? Why do we put instructions in?

Let's see 3 boxscores please. Somebody else was played out of position besides Ready and Gibson.

Oops - you're right. Sorry. I thought you were the Camels...

That certainly is a peculiar phenomenon. I've never seen it in the absence of an injury, and for it to occur in only one of the three games is very strange...perhaps Bernie can shed some light?

You dropped Gibson on 6/8 yet he played in those games for that night's cycle.

When you drop Gibson, he is removed from your line-up; however, perhaps the timing of the drop interfered with your settings of line-up and HAL did what he felt was right to put in a new RF for you.

While pitchers are locked at 10pm, perhaps there is a lag that let your late night moves sneak into the game settings post 10pm.

I don't think HAL is broken here. I sincerely think it was timing.

BTW- WTF kind of line-up is that and how are you playing 3 games over .500 with that line-up sorted like that?

why would Gibson reappear in game 3? None of the new players acquired played in any games...all of the other players like yount played all 3 games.

and whats wrong with my lineup except that they suck?

My highest obp is at the top...my highest slg which is pathetic is in the middle...and my bums are at the bottom. My players act like they are playing in the grand canyon instead of the astrodome.

it is just a pathetic lineup.

Your line-up slot was "empty" where you previously had Gibson as he was dropped and the player you added to that slot was not eligible for play that night. HAL decided for Kirk in game 1 and Randy in game 2 for that "empty" slot. Simple really.

Sometimes HAL will even shuffle line-up positions when you leave the line-up spot blank. I've had similar things happen when people accept trades at 9:45 at night and HAL gets to juggle my line-up to his taste.
