Which 2 Players would you rather have and why...

Simmons, Al (9,710,000) - RF
Foxx, Jimmie (11,330,000) - 3B

OR

Ott, Mel (9,100,000) - RF
Brett, George (12,600,000) - 3B

Unless you are in a division with 3 Y56/Municipal 54/Dunn types - Simmons & Fox. They have minimal injury risk and both hit for power & average against both types of pitching. Get a 3B defensive replacement for late innings, though. Just my 2 centavos.

That's good advice...currently I have Simmons and Foxx, but was offered the other 2 in a trade. The only reason I am stuck on whether to accept or decline is that I do not have many Lefties in my line up (Just Berra and R.Smith)...the rest are righties...

Simmons is always good to great ,Ott is ok sometimes good, rarely great . I have never used either Foxx or Brett but if those were my choices I'd take Foxx just for the injury thing . Get someone like Byrne (2e13) as a late game D-man for Foxx .

Suggest you count LH/RH SPs in your division and league.

Smith and Berra are expensive LHs, Smith is especially prone to underperformance, no SLG power. Make changes there for sure.

Never trade/dump Simmons in any park any time IMHO.

Brett and Foxx are both gems for Huntington. Foxx will give you .400+ OBP and 50+ HRs, great hitter at #2 or #3, you need a big LH bat behind him and hit Simmons #5. Brett is terrific, .375 BA and 100 xtra base hits is likley.

Consider moving out Berra and Smith for options and trading Foxx for Brett (if he would make that trade) if there are not any good LHs.

I often use R.Smith in the leadoff spot...he has a solid OBP usually for me.

It is a $200M League so money is no object...I just do know if I need more LH Hitters that what I got already...

Keep Foxx and bat him 2nd, Simmons 5th after Stargell.

My guess is there is no better option than Reggie Smith, I assume/hope you have a platoon mate for him?

Here are your numbers. Your issue is not LHs hitters, but that LH pitchers will hurt you. Your D is pretty leaky, Ripken, Foxx, Clark and especially Hack are all liabilities.

Thanks again for the advise...I think Ripken is as solid as any SS...I just hope my runs make up for my pitching and defense. Currently, I have A.Dawson to backup Hack in CF.
