A little help

A little help

Postby bullmcintosh » Thu Jun 15, 2006 10:24 am

You guys have helped greatly, though I have not had much success. I have had some unlucky runs. I have just joined another auto-draft league and wanted some advice. 10 of the 12 teams in the league play in pitcher's parks. Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry,

I wanted to get some suggestions as to how you would bat them as well. I am a little heavy with lefthanders, but 2-3 of them are E as to their balance.

Go to your league stats page, click on your team name, and then cut and paste this new link to your team. It should include a team ID # at the end of the URL.

Bull,

Glad to help, but where are you going with this team? 39/37 BPHRs in Forbes? Bags is a hitting park pitcher, Eck is a waste of $7M. Average speed of 12.9, a 2 in CF. These are problems at Forbes, but things are pretty picked over, suggest:

Lineup:
Gibson
Merkle
Evers
Boggs
PEck
JJ - keeper
Joe D
Heath

RPs:
Orosco
McDowell
Bahnsen - keeper
Lasher

SPs:
Scott
Johnson
Carlton - keeper
Best you can get with the cash left, Williams if you need a LH

Or you could get Giusti in the pen and upgrade your SPs.

Better balance, your OBP is a bit low, much better speed, decent pitching, good defense. Maybe 81 wins, hope more.

Best of luck, sschu

Looks like a good start . Your staff isn't bad . Not sure if Boog is a good fit here but he will get walked . You could use a better 2B platoon IMO . Peck is good for D hopefully he will hit some . Overall its not a bad start .

Normally I would say, dump Drysdale, but w/ 10/12 pitchers parks he might actually win 20 games.
I'm in that league and we are both doomed. You more than I though :x

Agree with much of the above. You need to understand about the effects of BP HRs... if you're in a pitcher's park, you want BP HRs on your pitchers' cards because they will be negated, and you'll get a better performance out of them. Conversely, you don't want your hitters to rely on BP HRs because their performance will suffer when they're negated. The exact opposite is true when you're playing in HR happy parks. Make sense? Hope so.

In any case, recommended players to pick up

STARTING PITCHERS
Scott
Johnson
Marquard
Ruffing
Mayer
Erskine
Sutton
Drysdale (keep)
Wilks (if want a cheapie for a 4th slot platoon)
Forsch (ditto)

RELIEF PITCHERS
Newhouser
Beggs
G.Harris
Orosco
Pina
Bahnsen (keep)
Bennett
Bair
S.Miller

CATCHERS
C.Meyers
Gibson
Tebbets
Mancuso
Ruel

FIRST (talk about picked over!)
Gehrig
D.Walling (needs platoon mate)
Merkle

SECOND
Doyle
Gilliam
D.Miller
Garcia
Gantner
Evers (w/platoon vs LHP)
White (w/platoon vs RHP)
Whitehead (only to free up money for another hitting spot)

SHORT
T.Fernandez (better than Peck offensively and can't get hurt)
Concepcion
Aparicio
M.Wills
Oquendo

THIRD
Boggs
Dykes (I think he's a better bargain than Boggs)
Walling (w/platoon mate vs. LHP)
McMullin (w/platoon mate vs. RHP)

LEFT
Joe Jackson (keep!)
B.Miller
Haas
Ruth
T.Williams
Clarke
Heathcote
Jo Jo Moore

CENTER
J.Dimaggio
B.Miller
Flood
W.Wilson
Haas
Dykstra/Kuntz

RIGHT
B.Miller
Haas
Clarke
Ruth
Heathcote
Jo Jo Moore

Good luck!

I'm in the same division and yes the FA has been picked over rather well for certain positions . You could use some help in areas for sure , listen to what is being said and you should compete somewhat . Since the league overall is a pitchers haven you will need some speed on the basepaths , high obp , solid rotation and decent D . Keep these things in mind when making moves .
