Back to the 80's v2.0 but Loved to See 80's v2.1

Did you know that ATG II is moving to ATG III this July?

How about a few unique changes for 80s besides those imported from TSN's SOM 200x formats?

We didn't even get all the 200x upgrades:

- standings page has not been upgraded
- game headlines are pretty basic (they never acknowledge a streak or anything, usually just "Team A defeats Team B, 6-4")
- the FA search options have not been upgraded

...I'm sure there are other features we're still waiting for. Are waivers at least weighted now in the 80s game?

Is there a reason we can't see MVP and CY Young winners after the season is over?

Not even a version 2.0

Postby bjs73 » Thu Jun 15, 2006 9:15 pm

I'd call it more of a version 1.2...

It's probably the single biggest reason why I never made a reply in the sticky topic on this board because I'm barely thankful for the implemented improvements. This wasn't a major overhaul by a long shot. I expected much more from all the hype.

Home/Road splits....I'm with YountFan, don't use them and not very useful to me. The headlines are kind of nice but not that big of a deal.

Weighted waivers and the 60 million dollar salary cap consisted of the meat of this [i:c2c676235a]upgrade[/i:c2c676235a] because it certainly wasn't a version 2.0 in my eyes.

It's still fun for me though. However, the fun is derived from the camraderie of the people that show up on this forum and play the game all the time. I enjoy the topics on this forum and the March Madness tournament participation. I think that it's super that (on our own) we were able to come together as a group and create a prize pool for the champion. Pretty neat really.

I also check the rankings every morning to see what's changed in the top 50. I wish Sykes would win another 4 championships cause he deserves it. I couldn't believe the way Fletchgriswold shot up through the top 10 like he did in what seemed like a 10 week span. And I've also been spying on Jablowmi since he's been making big strides lately towards [i:c2c676235a]my[/i:c2c676235a] spot in the top ten. LOL EEK!

I like it for the keeper leagues and the occasional theme league too. BC Manager is the best commish all the way around for these types of things.

I also enjoy the banter crowd like JimmyC, YountFan, Seanreflex, SemperGumby, OuttaLF and there are many others as well.

Best 80's player you've heard little about? Albert2b.

And especially for the mystery card.

If this is a wishlist...

Postby canauscot » Thu Jun 15, 2006 9:20 pm

If this is a wishlist, then;

A new Individual player setting for hitter's of "platoon". The option to avoid Rh or Lh doesn't seem to do much. I'd like Whitt to hit for Dempsey when the Lh starter leaves.

A new individual player setting for Pitcher's (relief) of "Lefty Specialist" and "Righty Specialist". Again, "avoid" is taken to loosely and I'd like to see my guy come in a face that one or two tough lefties and then get out.

Until we get back to the 70's can we at least see Palmer, Seaver maybe even Yaz. Heck, Seaver even finished '86 with the Red Sox. Why no card?

There are occassional refences to a slumping or hot team in the commentary, but a record in the 'Last 10' shouldn't be too hard on the standing's page.

This Home/away splist are the BIGGEST improvement for me as I like to trthfully see how my guys do in my park in particular. That REALLY HELPS narrow down the cards and is the main reason why I went from worst to first (well won my division that is) in round 1 of the 80's tournament. I was able to figure out who to keep and who to ditch.

The main thing I'd like to see is the standings page include the owners ID, not just the \"managers name\" that you make up with each team, so that you know who is who in your league, like ATG and 200X have.

otherwise I like the changes.

Anyway to get a list of possible additions to Bernie besides our meaningless postings?

I'd truly like to see the x-chance stats for the positions as provided by the CD-Rom as well as more team statistical information (CD-ROM provides individual players with R/27 #s).
