Replacement

Postby kcm0711 » Sat Jun 17, 2006 2:41 pm

I'm sure if Dinger doesn't show for the draft that Cummings will come back in to the mix. He is a really good guy. I don't think he would be concerned about losing the first pick. I have never seen a negative from him. Just PM him and I sure he would drop in. But, Dinger may have had holiday plans and is just doesn't know that the draft has started. It doesn't look like he was used the message boards that much.

Remember that the "clock" is turned off during the weekend, especially during round 1. I say we wait for Dinger until Monday. I'm usually out of internet touch during the weekend and can understand how that can happen. Our league drafting wasn't set up until Friday.

On a lighter note... whoever advertised live online drafts as "exciting" wasn't being very realistic.

There is always one jerkoff in every league. He'll come around and say sorry he forgot

A quick check of DINGER's TSN profile:

1. He has played in 4 SOM leagues total, no live drafts and no Tour leagues. Although he is signed up on the Tour page, if he doesn't join this league he'll be out of this year's tour. Seems to me like all the more reason he should have been here paying attention, or at least let us know if he'd be gone, if he really cares.

2. He has made a lifetime total of ONE post to these boards, when he signed up for this league, and no sign of him since.

I also emailed him early on Friday, before the "weekend" started, with no response.

We're already way behind the other Event 3 leagues, and waiting an extra day for somebody who's apparently clueless could easily delay the league an extra week. If he even shows up, he'll still be clueless, which is likely to cause more delay.

I'll assume he's a nice guy, which means he'd want us to go ahead without him rather than hold everybody else up, especially since he doesn't appear to be all that interested in the Tour anyway.

That said, I vote for whatever Cubit decides, the sooner the better.

I just got an email from Dinger indicating the confusion we suspected:

"I did not know I was drafting or in this league.  I thought because I did not purchase the 5 teams I was not eligible."

I suggest we all hold our fire, thank him for his being a SOMO player, and offer the spot in the league up to Cummings immediately. Will someone contact him for me while I move to see how to change the admin settings over on Penngray's site. I've not done that before, so may need some help.

Thank you all.

OK, I PMed Cummings2 and posted on another thread where he's active, asking him to come back to us.

Going over to the Admin powers on Penngray's site, I was not immediately able to deduce a way to change Dinger to Cummings2 (or anyone else) now that the draft has started. Knowing penn, there has to be a way. I wonder if you know dneedle1? Anyone else? I did not want to execute the "Remove" "Yes" option for Dinger until I know what happens. Trying Build Draft only tells me that the draft is underway and that cannot be done.

Any experienced suggestions?

...back 5 minutes later and I see there is a way I can remove a player, and I think I can set a draft priority for him, so all I await is Cummings2's ok to put him in ur league.

cubit,
nice job, I'm guessing if you can't make the switch(which I too agree must be a way knowing penn), I'd say to build a new draft, scrap the old one and everyone automatically gets the picks they've already made. Everyone just set proxies for those picks and they'd fire right off and boom we'd be in the pink. That however is a suggestion of last resort, but one that could work in a pinch. I'll leave it to your more than capable hands, but if I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

B.B. :-)

Ditto on the thanks for all your good work, Cubit! Just a suggestion to save time and maybe save you the bother of waiting and watching for Cummings...if it's easy to switch managers on the draft site, why not go ahead and put Cummings in Dinger's place so he can make his pick as soon he gets the word, with no need to contact you or wait for you to make the switch, etc. In the unlikely event he's changed his mind about joining us, you could still replace him with somebody else, no?

Hey there guys,

Cubey just filled me in a little in what is going on. I'll jump back in no probs. I am still working right now, so I am writing from my phone (which makes surfing a bit slow) as soon as I get home I'll catch up on this thread's events, find out what is going on and get a draft happy proxy-heavy team on the go.

Good to be back, :D
