My wife vs the CD ROM

My wife vs the CD ROM

Postby Simon31 » Sat Jun 17, 2006 5:47 pm

This Fathers day my wife has caved and allowed me to order the SOM CD ROM! Never having played this before I have NO idea what to order. Do I order the 11.0 version to play all the older teams and what do I need to set myself up with a league thats like our own ATG II? I know ordering the card image option is nice but do all the sets have that option or no?
What all do I need guys? HELP! :?

Check Individual League thread - Netplay III - I believe they are looking for managers.
You need V11 which comes with the 2005 player set. Get the card image option and I would get the color ballparks, old time if your going to play old time leagues.
Most of the leagues on these boards, use the HOF players and a particular season.
There is another site to check for other leagues.
But start at the Netplay III thread.

Is the stadium disk that important to have?

I agree with Bob on the stadium disk thing...unnecessary. Just don't forget the [b:d28be634d4]card images[/b:d28be634d4].

As for being a Father's Day present..the present isn't getting the disks...it's getting the 2.5 hours or so a week to play in a Netplay league. Good luck on those negotiations...Netplay is definitely worth a concession or two.

Ok...now I'm even more confused. I'm about to place my order with the SOM Co. for version 11.0 and the HOF set and I read this from their order form...."[b:d1a2e63cf2]Our latest computer game releases no longer use the floppy key disk system so all products currently shipping use the new registration code system and do not use floppy disks any more. If you are purchasing add-on products to use with an older release of our games, please specify in the Order Comments that you NEED DISKS so that you will be shipped floppy disk versions of the products you order. If you do not specify NEED DISKS then you will be shipped the product with the new registration code system." [/b:d1a2e63cf2]Can the older sets like the HOF's and others be used with this without disks?

the card images is a must IMHO ....it allows you to see the actual dice results ..... the color ball parks and old time ball parks are eye candy and not necessary..... the game is fairly primitive and the ball parks doesn't dress it up enough to look anything other then primitve. The 2001 HOF set is a must for most any netplay league.... so ...

version 11 with card images and
2001 HOF'ers

you will then need whatever season will be used i nthe netplay league that you join.

hope this helps
