When the ATG game went away and was replaced with ATG2, the link to "[b:ac69bfd8a1]Autodraft Revealed[/b:ac69bfd8a1]" kinda got lost - but here it is. - I hope to relink it in the ATG2 side, as this question does come up now and then. [b:ac69bfd8a1]ENJOY !![/b:ac69bfd8a1]

can anyone explain the advantage (or the reasoning behind) selecting about 5 or 6 backup catchers. Have seen this done several times, but am not sure why.

thanks for the schooling

Most likely because there aren't very many fifty cent (under 1 Mil) catchers with minus arms. I see a lot of people platooning fifty cent catchers, so those with minus arms get hard to come by. - MM :o

Waiver order, though, when all teams get everyone they want (as in an alpha league or a 25-man draft on Penn's site) does seem to be biased towards the order in which you entered the league.

In the few cases where:
1. All draft picks are secure:
2. The league has been set up as waivers; and
3. I have remembered to check,

the waiver order has mirrored division assignments. The East teams have been is waiver spots 1-4, the Central have been in 5-8, etc.

This is based on a relatively small sample size - less than 10 leagues. I didn't recognize the trend until after a number of leagues had past and I don't know of any way to go back and research waiver order. Perhaps going forward, others could check this in their leagues and confim if my observations are correct.

It doesn't matter much for the leagues described above, but if, after all other things are considered, waiver ties are biased towards order entry, some may consider it an advantage.

As for me, I like closing a league. 8) Call on me anytime you need a twelfth.

Read the findings of the scripted draft performed above in "Autodraft Revealed". We determined that your order of entry into the league had no bearing on the liklihood of getting your pick over someone that entered the league last. - MM 8)

My theory was easily blown out of the water on the most recent autoleague I'm in. Unless it was HAL just keeping me in check again. Have I ever mentioned that HAL hates me? He and that Murphy guy both.
