"The Naturals" Keeper League Season 6 - Farewell ATG II!!

Another series win on the road ... everyone in the West has at least a .500 record on the road so far ... will be interesting to see how long that can be maintained!

Despite being swept by the Savoy Specials, my team still has a winning Road record. Hopefully we'll rebound from that thrashing at Forbes Field!

Lemon is well on his way to securing the role of team ace ... meanwhile Buhl, Dinneen & Zachary are well on their way to securing spots in the doghouse! :x   They all have WHIPS between 1.83 & 1.88 :o :(

New Minglewood Blues off to slow start

[i:701963c88d]New Minglewood News[/i:701963c88d]

by Sal Minella

Your New Minglewood Blues have brought a plethora of changes to this years Naturals League. First and foremost, the Blues tore down Municipal Stadium and constructed a new ballyard. This was very controversial in New Minglewood, as city voters defeated multiple proposals for the new stadium, however, in a late night session of the city council, council members overrode the electorate and passed a bill authorizing new construction. In the subsequent elections, two city council men lost their seats, however, the stadium project continued. Reportedly, the construction will be financed with slot machines placed in high schools and old folks homes.

The new stadium should be more pitching friendly, but should also allow for that patented and potent New Minglewood offense to shine.

In other controversial moves, the Blues chose to release George Brett, last years team leader in batting average citing salary cap concerns. Stan Coveleski also departed after 5 good years with the Blues to the chagrin of New Minglewood fans.

Thus far, New Minglewood fans have been pleased by the addition of Red Ames (4-1, 3.23 ERA) and the continued strong pitching of George Mogridge (5-1, 3.28 ERA). Offensively, however, the Blues have been lacking as typical firecrackers Gary Carter and Willie Mays have been struggling to keep their averages above .200.

Things may be turning around, however, as the Blues showed up strong against the West's Little Gods, taking two of three. Next up is the Avengers featuring the lights out pitching of Howie Camnitz and Dizzy Dean.

Won another series on the road ... hopefully our starters will settle down soon enough, and we'll start playing better at home. :)

Won a sweep on the road to improve to 13-8 ... still another 6 games before a homestand! By then I'll have played 27 of my past 30 games on the road, after starting off with 9 at home. Of course ... considering how well I am doing at home, all these road games are not necessarily a bad thing! ;)

Buhl, Dinneen & Zachary all pitched quite well last night so there is still hope for them. 8)

Despite batting a measly .162, Clark is the first hitter on the Marlins to reach 10 HR. Thats 10 HR out of 19 Hits!! Talk about swinging for the fences! ;) He is averaging a little over a walk a game though, and leads the league with 35.

[b:6878d76e8c]AT Press:[i:6878d76e8c] Joy in "Marlinville"[/i:6878d76e8c][/b:6878d76e8c]

The Montreal Marlins won their first series at home this season when they managed to win 2 of 3 from the visiting Diamond Kings.

Dinneen pitched a 5 hit CGSO in Game I, and Killebrew & Cepeda provided all the needed offense in the 6th Inning with a couple of HRs.

In Game II, the Marlins rallied from a 4 run deficit to win 6-5. Down 5-1 in the 7th, Ed Bailey smacked a solo shot to close the gap to 5-2. Then in the bottom of the 8th, Killebrew & Yastremski got a couple of singles and were followed by a walk to Yount (intentional?). With the bases loaded Cepeda belted the 3rd pitch he saw over the left field fence and with a swing of the bat the Marlins had tiaken the lead 6-5! Lefferts pitched a nervous 9th (allowing 2 straight walks) but secured the win for the Marlins

Alas the Diamond Kings took advantage of a struggling Lemon to take an early lead in Game III and led from the 4th inning on to win 10-4.

Hmmm... you think that if I set my lineups, rotation and managerial and individual settings, this team might do a bit better? I think I'll go do that now...

MM, I don't know that it would matter. Look at my team -- in last place in spite of lineups, settings, etc. all set up. I just suck.....
