[b:eaf67d94d4] Gee, all that work and I get one comment? Come on guys, give me something![/b:eaf67d94d4]

A couple of quick things tonight before I go to bed.

The O rating is for offense, the higher the better. It includes hitting and running/stealing.

You would expect the pitching numbers overall to be the pitching plus the fielding, the lowest towards the top of the league.

We use a "standard" backup calc to account for injuries, if you have a better sub then your rating would be better than it appears. Injuries *are* taken into account in this way.

Platoons are figured 70/30 with a % of the time facing the "wrong" side due to RPs coming in. I forget the exact number right now.

I'll have some comments on your team Steve (since you bothered to reply), but I would expect you to do well especially with an apparently weak Cubans team in your division.

GTG,

Jet

Thanks for doing up the ratings, they're interesting to see. This is my first team of 2006. so far so good. Hopefully I'll be able to hold you off and make it into the playoffs. Burrell needs to pick it up for me but other than that I'm fairly pleased with my team. I'd say were not too bad off for the 1st and 2nd picks in the waiver draft???

Well, I"d say you have enough guys at or above their actual numbers that you can deal with Burrell and Jenkins! ;)

Yeah, it was a scramble for us, and I"m not sure we're going to match our rating at this point. We're well below where I would expect to be in terms of overall O and D, but there's still a long way to go. Hopefully it will come around for us. Right now, the series where we were outsocred 36-2 is definitely skewing our numbers.

Ya I'd have to say that they're my only 2 real disappointments (Jenkins?Burrell) right now (Their OBP is alright though). I'd like a little more production from my catching platoon as well, but they're doing a good job on defense as is Wilson at SS. I tried to employ the same strategy as I did in 2005 for Camden yards and so far it's paying off. I had alot of success there last year. I have 1 other 2006 team so far in Minute Maid and they're off to a great start (9-3). Being that this is/was my first 2006 team, are there any insights you might have into my team for use in future leagues? ie(bargains for righty parks)

Dog,

Well, given your rating, I think you done good. ;) Especially since you were at the bottom of the waiver wire!

A couple of quick thoughts:

Lackey is over priced according to our ratings. You may not have had many other choices however.

Your other 3 are good as you know since I tried to get you to trade any of them to us! Oswalt's lack of HRs over prices him some however. In some parks it's worth it, in others not so much.

Lidge is overpriced for a 1/6, Jones is good.

Springer has big jacks, but a good rating for the price. Walker is kind of a tweener who's a 1 IP guy with no close and HRs v RHB. Rates well for the price however.

Berkman is good when healthy, decent platoon at C, you're right in that they should be at least a little better.

Belliard is a good choice for a RH park.

We wanted Wilson, course that's when we expected to get A Rod too. <sigh>

I like Ensberg's power and lack of injury (3 games max), but his average v RHP isn't all that great, his average is overperforming for you right now. I would expect him to cool down, but the OB and pwoer to remain. Camden really isn't a hitter's park.

I'm not impressed with Burrell, don't expect him to hit for average especially given the lack of LHSP in our division.

Rowand is fine, decent v RHP good v LHP and glove v both.

Jenkins is a bordlerline platoon guy v LHP, but decent enough there given the paucity that we're seeing. I would expect his numbers to pick up for you.

Hope this helps,

Jet

Thanks, I appreciate your insight. It's always good to get another's opinion. Lidge wasn't my first choice for my setup guy but somebody grabbed both Shields and Seanez on me??? I have Shields on my other team and he's been amazing (knock on wood). I also have Madson and I've been impressed thus far. Instead of Lackey I thought about Loaiza but decided against it. Any experiece with him (Loaiza)?

9-16 in my last 25, my once impressive winning % is dropping quick. I seem to be going 1-2 in every series. The Pounders have closed the gap to 1 game. I think it may be time for a mini shakeup, like a different pre-game meal or something.

Hey, you can try a new trainer like we did (see our link to her picture on the previous page). She's worked magic. Clark's last injury was for only 3 games! :D

Unfortunately we haven't been able to take full advantage of your slump. We've had some tough luck e.g. we're 22-42 in steals! and the guys getting thrown out are all good stealers. Tavares is 7-15! Ugh. He was 34-45 last year! If some of these guys get where they should be we'll be OK, but this *is* a dice game so who knows if that'll happen.

We're 2 games back after tonight as you swept the Cubans. Whatever you fed them must have worked. ;)

Forgot to mention, sorry about taking Shields and Seanez, but you beat me to Smoltz and Peavy so I guess we're even. :)

Lackey has a better rating than Loaiza.

So your turn, what's your take on the Pounders?

I'm not very familiar with the 2006 crop of players yet but at first glance I like the look of your team. I personally prefer ball parks with a left or right skew but that's mostly because I haven't had ton of success in even parks. To me it seams you like to build your team in much the same way I like to build mine. 3 fairly good starters and another serviceable one.

I'm obviously a big fan of most of your bullpen as under different circumstances I would have liked Shields, Seanez, Madson and Flores. Having a lefty and a righty specialist is always nice. For your fifth starter I personally would prefer a guy who could also relieve. So I may have gone with a guy like Eaton instead of Padilla. If you would have had the $$$ to spend I would have liked to see one more guy in your pen, just to give HAL options.

As for your line up it has me wishing I had a lefty starter who eats up lefties. I'm glad Camden yards is better for righties. I'm not a huge fan of Wright's DEF at 3rd base but his offence and the stellar infield defense at the other positions more than makes up for it. I actually tried to get GILES in the draft and like his card. Cora's a nice backup for Castillo when he goes down to injury. Ellison's e15 would scare me, even as a backup. For me It's always hard to judge another's player selection as you don't know who they tried to get. Personally I would be more happy with Garland as my #2 or #3 starter instead of my #1 but I know you didn't really have a choice. In my mind this div will go right down to the wire. July 28th could be for all the marbles.
