I'm in a division that includes a Forbes, another Griffith and a Baker. Right now, I'm sitting with Pete, 3F Brown, Cicotte and Pollet, so, needless to say, I'm a little weak on the O. I'm thinking about dumping Cicotte and picking up Ott to fill my gaping hole in left, but then I'll be left with an Earl Wilson type (anybody else, preferably cheaper?), which doesn't sound as much fun as Cicotte.

With Ott, I think I'm looking at:

Wagner
Landis
Ott
B White
Clemente
Sanguillen
Pendleton
F White

Without, I don't want to luck.

By the way - I'm an 80s guy and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing here. Thanks in advance.

The league has 3 Forbes, 4 Griffiths (incl mine) and an Oakland....

I could swap Pollet, B White, Lansford and Kuntz for McGregor/Earl Wilson, Ott, Grimm/Gandil/Merkle and a bench guy, like Reynolds. Does that make any sense?

Would allow me to keep Pete, Brown and Cicotte, but leave me with:

Wagner
Landis
Ott
Clemente
Sanguillen
Grimm/Gandil/Merkle
Pendleton
F White

I suppose I could try to trade Pollet.....

Ott would be a waste and would not perform up to card in that league. I'd rather see Jo Jo Moore or Fred Clarke.

At 1B, I like Gandil or Merkle. First choice being Gandil for smallball league. If you went with a Gandil/Grimm platoon, you'd have money to add a 3rd reliever or to upgrade Pollett.

You also need a backup for Frank White, he will get hurt sooner or later.

I'd leave your starters alone and I also like the Martinez/Hall combo in the pen.

OK, I've mixed and matched suggestions and my lineup looks like this:

C - Sanguillen
1 - Gandil/Grimm
2 - White (could go to Evers for another LH bat)
3 - Pendleton (could go to Collins)
L - Clarke
C - Dawson
R - Clemente

I did downgrade my #4 from Pollet to Knepper to save some $.

I have $2.5 in the bank, which I could use to upgrade Knepper, an RP and/or swap Keller for Clarke.

Thanks for the help.

I like the Keller for Clarke option and if you aren't trying to set some kind of record for defense or pitching, Evers over White is a good move. Plus, Evers is bulletproof.

Either Hughes or Bahnsen would be a nice cheap alternative to Bair if you don't upgrade Clarke to Keller.

Take Wilson over Knepper. With 8 pitcher's parks in the league, he will rock.

OK, Wilson it is. I have Keller in, but may move to Clarke to get some more speed and save some $.

That's a good looking team. Grimm/Gandil are redundant. I like the Coach's Hughes upgrade suggestion.
