Early Returns Are Good

Can't believe my pitching so far - too bad the realist in me knows it won't last! I'm a tad worried about Downing, he appears to be asleep over there in LF. I'll give him some more ABs to see if he's got Parkinson's or something, before I send him to the minors. And Palmer may not be long for my rotation, but I'm trying to be conservative in my approach...Other than Trammell not hitting well yet either, I'm happy with things so far. Sure are a lot of lefty starters in the eastern division! I'll have to wait for interdivisional play to really test my guys agaisnt RHP.

My reveals look pretty good too.

Even though it looks rough around the edges right now, my offense will be just fine. My reveals and reads to this point show a solid O.

Eckersley bit the dust this morning. When your closer is second in the league in HRs allowed - all against lefties - something had to be done. Hopefully Henke will solidify the bullpen. I had the 91 Eckersley in round 1 of the tournament and I swear he cost me the division title with all of the late inning homers he gave up.

I don't want anyone to be alarmed, but I think my offense has decided to finally show up. This is more like a start for me than the last league (22-5) this is something I can tinker with and hopefulle come out smelling like a rose (or at least not like SH**).

Well, I hope it is your hitting against RHP that is starting to come around...I just dumped my sole righty in the rotation (David Palmer) in favor of John Henry Johnson, in part due to our matchup (tonight and divisionally throughout the rest of the season). Goes against the common wisdom I guess, an all lefty rotation, but we'll see. This is also my first foray with a team of 5 non*SPs. Let's see how you can hit a steady diet of extreme sinister...

Ouch! El Sid gets his first loss, and Ojeda gets a li'l dose of reality as well...but John Henry got a win in his first outing...sloppily. Saved me from a sweep anyway.

Not a lot of talk in Bracket 3

Postby sphilipp8 » Sat Jul 08, 2006 8:13 pm

I'm pretty psyched to be in 1st place with my Cinderella Men. Not quite sure how we're doing it with a .240 team average and below league average slugging and OBP yet 5th in runs scored. The pitching has been pretty good despite Henke's 5.87 ERA. I'm just waiting for the bubble to burst.

Looks to me like the Pigheads are the class of the league with some unbelievable waiver pickups: Schmidt .330 with 12 Hrs, Daniels (my donation) .333, Lonnie Smith .350 with 18 steals, and Roenicke .311 with 16 HRs.

Well it certainly ain't no fun playing the West!

:x

My pitching continues to amaze me, and all I'm trying to do is maintain some offensive threat...tough to do against the competition.

Coming Up On The Game 81 Cutoff

Postby hechojazz » Fri Jul 14, 2006 4:58 pm

Time to decide whether to dump or not to dump...can't seem to settle my catching corps down, and still can't breathe much life into my hitting...but that pitching amazes me. I still haven't given up 300 runs (290 at the moment, 260 earned), and the closest team to me in that category is Tourney Bombers (333 at the moment, 305 earned). But I've only scored 349 runs, better than only two squads. As much as I like my pitching, I sure would like to see a bit more O out of this pack of Freeloaders...

Can't believe I took 2 of 3 from Pigheads last night - that offense is crazy! And I somehow shut 'em out in one game! They must have been looking past me to tonight's tilt against their divisional foe Admirals...
