overwhelmed rookie seeking expert help/adcice on new team

Postby ANDREWLEVITAN » Sun Jun 25, 2006 7:28 am

Hello and thanks for visiting my post. This is my first team and I am a bit overwhelmed as it looks like I am the only one in the league without experience. My team is playing in Angels staduium. Any expert suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!! I plan on freeing up an additional 3.5 mill or so by /dropping Wang and Kazmir and getting another starred pitcher to complete my starting rotation.

Thanks again!

Your link is not working.

Go to your statistics page and click on your team.

Right click on the web address on top, copy it and then paste it here.

I'd like to see a closer better than Shields.

Look for a C5 guy or better.

What I would do:
1. Count how many LHSP's you'll see in your division.

Welcome to TSN SOM!

Here are a few suggestions. You deffinately want to drop Wang and Kazmir for a *SP. Wang and Kazmir are not bad pitchers but you can find a similar *SP and save money by getting a 50¢ that will never pitch for your 5th SP.

I agree with socal, you need a C5 or C6 closer. I would keep Torres & Shields but drop one of your other RP for a higher rated closer.

You should drop Blanco & Flaherty as they are not needed. Randa, Wilson, Utley & Tex all have 600+ PA (hits + walks) so they can not be injured for more than 3 games at a time. Martinez can back up 1B and Sanchez the other 3 IF spots. You also only need 2 C. HAL (the computor manager) will not allow all of your rated catchers to be injured at the same time.

I am not a fan of Guiel. I used him once and he was awful, maybe he will do better for you. Other RF in the same price range include Wilkerson, Figgins, Tyner, Lane, Ordonez (backup needed for injuries) and Rivera (platoon mate needed).

Using A. Ramirez at DH should work well but he has a higher chance of injury so you need a backup DH. Cheap possibilites include: Cedeno, Orr, C. Sullivan, Barmes, Atkins or Durham. I would grab one of these guys to fill in when Ramirez is out.

All for now.

Actually, with Teixiera, you don't even need a backup 1st baseman. He can't get hurt but for the remainder of the game.

You are obviously in between moves since you have 6m of cap room left but here are a few more thoughts. Drop Martinez. I guess you have Mabry as a backup 1B now.

Drop Moyer for any 50¢ SP. List him in your "rotation" settings and he will never pitch (except in a very long game where you run out of pitchers). You still need at least one more 2-3m RP. Dump one of your cheapies for 1 or 2 of such RP IMO.

Lane might need a platoon mate in RF. I would dump McCracken for a sub 2m RF that hits LHP like Byrd, Ellison, Blake or Matthews.
